Way up there
Has Wigginton's stock actually increased supporting an early exit to the pro's? I can't say I've seen proof either way (stay/go).

It honestly seems like THT would be the more likely one to go right now, it seems to get brought up more about him than Lindell. Either way, I'd guess both of them are going to test the waters and not make a clear decision until the last minute.

Wigginton might just have it in his mind that he is going after this season no matter what, come hell or high water, and he will just deal with the consequences of that.

I feel he might be best served by following Monté's route, though -- stay 3-4 years, play very well as an upperclassmen and build a "brand" nationally, and be as physically mature and as best of a player as you can be when you go because, well, you are already an old man in the eyes of NBA teams as a prospect, so you are likely to have limited time to play yourself into attractiveness for them in the D-League. They will move onto the next guy quickly.

You need to be as ready as you can be to do that when you do go, which means staying in college and having yourself as practiced and developed as possible.

If those first-round grades on THT right now are for real then he should absolutely go. His situation is completely different for being so much younger, even if he does not consistently look like an NBA player, especially with shooting and on defense, at this point.

Pure speculation, but I would say if Wigginton ends up going, then his decision is already made, and probably has been made for awhile.

It was probably made last summer. He wants to move on to the next step in his career only people on message boards care about 1st round guarantees and yadda yadda yadda.

They can’t comprehend that even playing in the G League is a more intense basketball schooling than playing in college. You’re getting paid money to get coaching from top coaches, be around other top players, learning to travel and be a pro and just having absolutely nothing else to do but play basketball.

I don't know what Wigginton's support situation is, but in many ways, having a full ride at a school like Iowa State is a better life than the G League. G League guys get paid squat to play in front of 20 people. Sure, you're around other good players, but they're all in competition with each other. I know what I would do, but Wigginton seems to want to go pro no matter what. The G League is a graveyard more often than not.

The Athletic did an article asking anonymous coaches about intriguing prospects, and if they should stay or leave early.

THT was included in the list, and let's just say all 4 coaches, in different ways, said that he should not leave early.
The Athletic could have just asked me.

We have better facilities -- practice, weights, and Hilton -- than a D-League team, too.

The travel required for Iowa State... charted aircraft, games mostly within the same region of the country, small number of road games... is easier than the D-League, as well. They bus more often, play in front of limited crowds with no media attention on them, and have to go all over the country, as opposed to sticking to the Big 12 footprint. It sounds lame.

No trips to Maui or Nassau in the D-League, too.

No. I am not giving into corporate shills. It is the D-League.

I think he's athletic enough to maybe pull down a 2 way contract. That is a lot more reasonable money. Also, there are a LOT of NBA players now that have spent time in the G League.

That said, I hope he's back. I do think a full healthy year for him would be great and a much better springboard to the league.

The 2-way is a game changer. I didn't realize how often those guys would fill out the NBA bench. Naz and Deonte have made quite a few appearances, which gets them prorated league minimum payouts in addition to their base pay. Those can add up quick.
