Seriously, is this the best you got?? Prohm was sure still able to convince THT, Griffin, Haliburton and Conditt to come on over. What about Jacobson and Shayok waiting in the wings to play this year? Most knew it was going to be a bit of a gap and uphill battle last year. There was too much uncertainty returning. You can sell playing time and Hilton. It's not rocket science.
I guess you aren't very good with timelines. All the guys you mentioned signed or committed a year ago after a winning season and an NCAA tournament berth. This past year was not nearly as successful. Also how can you sell playing time when most of the guys you just mentioned are Freshman.

So you just assumed after losing that many seniors that this program or team wouldn't have growing pains?? How many were injured at 1 point last season? Do we really have to bring up Fred leaving in June while Prohm was behind the game on the recruiting trail while taking over unbalanced classes? Even if my timeline is off, you have high expectations of a non-blue blood to continue making the tourney after losing a bunch of seniors with hardly any experience returning the following year. I'm not too worried, as I think they will have a solid season this year and recruiting will pick right back up. If anything, Leech could be a steal.

I agree growing pains were to be expected and injuries came into play but we finished 2 full games behind the next closest team. I thought the program was better than that and I think that lack of success last year is certainly being pointed out by coaches that are recruiting against ISU.

We wont know what this recruiting class is for another 3-4 months. I'd wait until then to ***** about it.

Exactly it is August 15 and we really don't have any idea how the class will end up. At this point last year T. Harris was suppose to commit to ISU, THT looked like a long shot and the staff had just offered Haliburton. Let's see how it plays out before we call the Class underwhelming before visits are known.

I think the Staff is confident in their targets and where they stand. If they were concerned there would be reports of new target their visiting and more offers being extended.

I agree we need to let things play out but there have been a couple of recent offers to relatively unknown players that does cause worry to me. I think it was a 6'1" point guard out of South Carolina. All of his other offers looked like mid level schools like Buffalo, NC Ashville, Eastern Tn. etc. The ISU offer definitely stuck out as which one was different than all the others.

Only Lindell Wigginton and Jeff Beverly were available for 100% of games.

Why are you assuming this recruiting class is going to be worse? We have one more commitment. This time last year we had 0.

Do you remember what Zion Griffin's offer list was before we got involved?

hint: it was Wright State, UTEP, WMU, Milwaukee, Chicago St, Toledo... He did get a Loyola of Chicago one 8 days before we offered, though!

If there is one thing this staff has proven, it is that they can identify undervalued/underranked recruits before most others can.

First of all, we have no clue if any of these recent PG offers are commit-able. Often times there strings like "We're going to see how play XYZ's visit goes, then you're next on the list".

Secondly, if Prohm extends a guard an offer, there's a high likelihood that he's a good player.

Look at some of our near misses last year. McKinnley Wright ended up being a total stud.

Haliburton wasn't ranked too high, but it sounds like he's been extremely impressive this summer.

Tournament “birth” is always good for a laugh.

I don't know, if that's how it fills out, isn't that potentially just as "sexy" as Monte's class? That turned out pretty well.
Monte was the 2nd highest ranked player in the class. He and Thomas were both 4 Stars. Add in the top recruit from a JUCO powerhouse in Hogue. That class was great on paper.

You are simply overreacting. If this is what you're worried about already, you must have a lot of anxiety or a stressful life. You need to practice what you preach in the first line. As others have already pointed out, Prohm has been displaying in various ways that he can identify talent early on. I don't need to name names because srjclone already point one out. This is the same exact thing that's happening in football with Campbell. Are you concerned with him too? Just because the staff is the first P5 offer can mean a lot of things. Let things play out before you jump to conclusions, this is out of your control and there is a lot of talent on our current roster that does not have me worried. Prohm has already shown he isn't afraid to fill in a roster with transfers or JUCO's either.

My Google Fu says...

Georgia
Iowa State
Minnesota

Maybe this is the developmental guy (as a stretch big man, something we kind of lack right now) that I was talking about in an earlier post.

I posted this earlier, but our commitments last recruiting cycle were on...

9.12 = Griffin
9.17 = Haliburton
10.2 = Conditt
10.26 = Horton-Tucker

About this time last year was when we just lost out on Race Thompson and I was starting to panic. Boy, is my face red after that incident.

We are already ahead of last year -- Leech is like the ultimate upside play, even more so than guys who have some great things going for them (height and length and character, in both Haliburton and Conditt's cases) but some things that need to develop (both of them are skinny as heck and need more experience, and Conditt is still getting used to being a big man after being a guard/wing before his growth spurt).

Leech, if healthy, eligible, and his with his head on straight, could be the equivalent of a 5* recruit and coming in to start and produce next season.

Nixon//Horton-Tucker//Leech//Lard//Young :)

That is a great start to a class, in my book, more than our previous upside plays.

We have no idea what the class is going to look like yet. I would rate Tandy and Anderson as our most likely ones, but that could easily change.
