Turner Gill used to coach their football team. You're welcome.

C-Willy has a snippet about them losing to Duke and having to get rid of their best player.

I'm just curious how we match up, what their strengths are, etc.

Not much basketball discussion going on anywhere in the state yet.

Their mango habanero wild wings are fantastic

I know you are only joking, but the BU athletic department is one of the most heavily subsidized in FBS. IF Detroit can have the Red Wings, maybe Buffalo should capitalize and sell themselves as the Wild Wings!

I do have to say that what our fanbase has done for Oats and his family is wonderful (and before anyone asks, I did donate). This goes to show that we have such selfless and wonderful alum and fans of the school that this is one of the reasons I'm so proud to have had the opportunity to have gone to and graduated from such a great university.

Does anyone know much about Buffalo? Outside of the fact that we raised a lot of money to help the coach's wife pay for chemo, there's nothing I know about the school. Style of play? Players that could make life difficult for us?

They are a pretty small team that has really struggled shooting the ball so far this year. They are 4-4 with no good wins and no really bad losses, although they did lose at home to a St Bonaventure team that is outside the top 100. Sagarin has them at #173, a bit worse than Va Tech or NDSU, a bit better than Drake.

They have two freshman posts (6'8" and a 6'10") that basically play half the game each, everyone else is 6'6" or shorter. 6'5" senior Rodell Wigginton (#20) is probably their best player, averaging 11 and 7 a game. They have a So PG (#1 Lamonte Bearden) who leads them in scoring at just over 13, along with 2.8 assists. He also gets to the line the most. They play 8 players between 16 and 27 minutes, so they don't really have a go to player.

They generally don't shoot many 3s and are shooting <30% on the ones they do shoot. They are also shooting only 42% on 2s. Outside of horrid shooting, they are middle of the NCAA pack in almost everything else - rebounding, turnovers, FTs, etc. They are very low on assists/FGs, which probably means a lot of one-on-one offense. Something we've been good at forcing teams into.

Kenpom has us winning by 18, Sagarin has us by 21 or 22.

^Thanks bawbie. Sounds like a game for the small lineup maybe if we run into trouble.

With teams like this, it's a toss up on whether we'll go small - or whether McKat gets his 20/20 game.

frankly they are pretty similar to NDSU, except they haven't been able to shoot this year. If they do make some shots, they might be able to hang around for a half, but that's it.

Also, I just saw that Doc and Kourtlin at Southern Miss got their first win of the season, beating NDSU by 12!

Nice. We'll probably be #3 or 4 in the AP Poll, but you have to go with the higher ranking!
I tell ya though... This is the 1st time in my life, I've EVER seen (first place votes) next to ISU's name in the rankings!

Go Cyclones!!!

You may want to set aside 30 seconds to read their thread on tonight's game.

Seeing the limited posts on other teams' websites always makes me thankful for what we have here.

You have to like the mention of the gofundme account by their fanbase. As much of a sports fan as I am, they should always come second to the people involved.

I'm always happy to see ISU view in a positive light for the right reasons. Even if most of the time we're just a bunch of sarcastic ********!

Seems like NDSU shot better against us than they usually do. Southern Miss fans probably happy to get rid of lakes.

Between Buffalo, NDSU, and Colorado, wonder if this is a school record for opponents with buffalo/bison nicknames?:spinny:

I'm not sarcastic and I am terribly offended at the suggestion.

Perhaps the Cyclones will get matched up with Bucknell, Howard or Lipscomb in the tourney.
