Me too, but I was saying San Antonio as in either final four or championship. It will be interesting to see where us and Auburn end up if we finish as 1's. I'm still not convinced about Tennessee yet. They will be tested eventually.
My point was only relevant to Auburn and ISU being the clear #1 and #2 teams in the country. SHOULD be a Championship Game matchup, but I don't trust the committee.

Tennessee travels to Florida and Auburn in January. That'll be pretty tough.

It's also a long season and we don't know if they'll even both be in that position.

There will be typical ebbs and flows for ISU and hopefully they're ascending by mid-March regardless of seed.

Rotation being the key word imo

But only 8 players entering the game? That’s not terribly common imo, particularly two midseason games in a row, one of which was a blowout buy game
Rotation means that’s who plays in a tight game barring severe foul trouble or injury. While it seems odd to stick with those 8 vs Morgan St, it’s the last game before the meat grinder starts and TJ wants that rotation firing on all cylinders.

As for the CU game, it’s a road game in a tough environment, but could end up a Q2 game. If you want a #1 seed you have little room for error. This game means as much as the last regular season game.

Speaking of Rancik did they mention in the broadcast last night that there is a connection to Iowa State?
I don't recall them mentioning it last night, but it's his son. He was a 3-star prospect (looking at 247 here), #31 PF in the 2024 class and #18 player in California. Looks a lot like Martin (looks-wise, not game-wise!).

Its a nice luxury we have 3-4 guys who can do this if needed. Those two plus Lipsey and Keshon.
This is the big difference this year to me.

2022: had to hope IZB's jumper was falling, otherwise we're f*cked
2023: had to hope Gabe was hitting shots and/or the Grill was lit, otherwise we're f*cked
2024: at least for the first ~half of the year pre-TCU, had to hope Tamin was playing like an all-american on offense, otherwise we're f*cked
2025: we have like five or six guys who can hit shots and win the game

Mommy isn't quite there yet. Sure he 'could' (and probably will at some point), but as of 'today' I want the ball in the hands of those 4 aforementioned players.

Sure, but now “plays” is they key word

At least as of a few years ago, only 8 players entering a game isn’t common, tight game or not. I’d imagine significantly less common two games in a row, one of which was a buy game.

8 getting a vast majority of the tight minutes, aka rotation minutes, in a game is very common, particularly when a game will be competitive

I am a little skeptical of Colorado being a formidable opponent. Yes, they are well coached, and yes, they are gonna be a tough out in their venue. But they were out a key contributor, rely heavily on guys who were at D2 and NAIA a year ago to play starter type minutes, and still at times looked like the better team last night. We don't have a guard as smooth as Hammond or a hyper athletic big like Diop. I came away from that game feeling happy we won playing at best a C type of game, but was a little left wanting as well.

Edit: Dak is who I was thinking of, not Diop. Dak had that ridiculous alley oop finish where he had to jump up near the top backboard to get the ball

Going back to the 2019-2020 season, Colorado is 37-14 (73% wins) at home against major-conference opponents (nearly all of those games were PAC12 games) with an average margin overall of +8 points, an average margin in wins of +14 points, and in defeats of -9 points.

Have the rules changed as far as taking charges on the perimeter? Just curious as we have taken a lot less this year than in the past few years.

I don't know about the perimeter specifically, but the rule on charges did change recently to be a lot more strict on what constitutes a charge, I think this is why you're seeing relatively few of them so far this year.

"Our goal is to try to reduce the number of charges that are called," said Rick Barnes, Tennessee's coach and the committee chair, earlier this year when the rule change was initially proposed. "We want to give more time to the offensive player to adjust to defensive player movement and reduce the hard collisions that are taking place."
