Buddy. WE WON THE GAME. They didn’t come back on us. They FAILED to come back on us.

He meant in the context of we gave up a huge lead and a lot of it in a relatively short amount of time. It was frustrating to watch, we made some mistakes or shot ourself in the foot with stupid turnovers. Need to play with a better basketball IQ down the stretch. With that said, I am not all that concerned how the last few minutes worked out considering the officiating was a HUGE part of why TCU closed in on us. Yes we made a few mistakes, but the officials probably assisted in helping Tech a lot. They were calling us for breathing on TCU and they were letting pretty much everything go when TCU was defending. It was horrible.

You, Nocreativity, and a very small, very persistent number of others, don't just point out negatives, you dwell on them. Sure, you throw in the "thrilled with the win," but your posts reveal the opposite. Your hope, every game, is to be able to say, "I told you so" after a loss. So you have to grasp for any negative and beat it to death after a win. Even after a road win over a ranked team, accomplished with the best player on the team out with an injury.

This might be one of the stupider posts I have seen in a long while.

Literally no single poster here is “dwelling” on any negatives from yesterday. We all slept great last night after a really fun (and important) run win. The posts do not “reveal the opposite” - you’re making that up because you actively seek out and crave interpreting any spec of negativity like it is somehow personally offensive to you, and you are the Cyclone moral police that must serve as some sort of authority on people’s opinions on a free public Internet forum. Like most games, posters are praising the good and calling out the bad - which is perfectly normal and healthy discussion on a fan message board. Game threads will always be (and should be) very, very emotional and reactionary. And there is absolutely no shame in that. There is a very persistent and annoying group here that consistently strives to frame any tiny little morsel of perceived criticism or frustration as some sort of terror plot of pure evil & negativity that must be squashed with unmitigated sunshine pumping. (See how easy it is to make stupid a** exaggerative statements?) And if there are posters repeating negative things - so what? Block them if you don’t like their stuff. It takes 1 second of your time, and you can free yourself from having to personally police everyone else‘s fandom.

PS. We are still not a good 3 pointer shooting team - told ya so!?

Maybe I missed it, but I've read through most of this thread, with folks complaining about losing the large lead, and I have not seen any mention of the fact that both of our bigs had 4 fouls for the time in question, during a game where the plan was to go with a big lineup. When they were in during that time, I noticed both Ward and BRE were more tentative defensively, obviously due to their foul situations. This game doesn't get put away without Watson's effort plays. Outsized on the block and getting the stops and rebounds he did were phenomenal. King worked his ass off and I think Beliew showed he can provide good spot minutes when the fouls pile up. Great perseverance against adversity for this team.

No doubt our guards had big days, but the biggest positive to me is to see Ward, Watson, and Omaha having the impact on the game that they did. Even the combover acknowledged TCU couldn’t handle our active, athletic bigs.

I'm not able to do a full game review at the moment, but watched much of first half. The stretch from about 18 to 12 minutes in 1st half is stellar. It's oversimplifying to say that segment "won the game" for ISU, but it certainly set a tone.

Wow! Jamie Dixon was brief with TJ during the handshake line. Also looked like he was just going to head into the locker room with out shaking other hands, and then thought differently. What a douche bag!

I think he was hoping/thinking that they would put time on the clock. The clock should stop when the ball goes thru the net, I froze my TV and had .2 left.

I think he went back to find TJ again after the refs left the floor but, I may be wrong on that.

I think that was the clock on the graphic just being off a bit. Looks like it hit 0 before it even got to the basket. The graphic was close to a full half second off.

I stay away from game threads during the game, except, occasionally, checking in when something really good is happening. I know things get emotional during the heat of the moment and there are negative, reactive posts. It's not my thing, I just yell at the TV.

My criticism is when the positives of a hard-earned victory are minimized, postgame, while some negative aspect of the game isn't just pointed out, but is the focus of repeated posts. And then, when faced with criticism, the reaction is to get defensive and double down on the negative.

I do agree with you on one thing, feel free to block me.

I said multiple times in my posts yesterday it was a huge win and it was the best game they've played in the TJ era.

They also didn't score from the 4:23 mark until about 30 seconds left when CJ made those 2 free throws. We also missed the front in of two 1 and 1s in the last twenty seconds that would have iced the game also. So while the win was huge I don't see a problem with pointing out how bad we were the last 4 minutes and that we got extremely lucky to get out of there with a win.

To your last point, maybe we double down becuase we are just defending ourselves from being called a troll the minute we point out the last 4 minutes were a complete dumpster fire?

What I've never understood is..... aren't we all die hard Cyclone fans here? Most of us on here spend way more time on this board than any person should ever spend on a sports fan site... so why is that? Because we ALL care so deeply about ISU athletics... and a lot of us graduated from ISU too... and like me... some of our best memories in our lives were the years we spent at ISU.

In a way... we are all ONE. But with that being said... we are also all separate individual human beings too... with different personalities. Some people are just more positive than others, some are more critical thinkers than others, some have issues going on in their lives and aren't always as positive as others, etc, etc, etc. Doesn't make them better than anyone else, or better or worse fans.

Whenever I watch any sporting event, I tend to view it critically... breaking down what is working and what doesn't... and why? It's just how I am with basically everything in life. Maybe that's one of my biggest faults? It's very hard for me to just enjoy a game... my mind starts analyzing everything. But that's what I enjoy doing. My wife often asks me if I'm enjoying games when I'm watching them because I get worked up.... but I love it. Just the way I am.

Anyway... I don't think I'm overly critical of other fans on this site for being too positive, but if I am, I will try harder not to be. We're all on the same team here. I cannot guarantee that I will not critically examine how the games are though... it's just how I am. And mentioning the things we need to improve on does not make anyone a bad fan, and why judge people on how good of a Cyclone fan they are anyway? We're all Cyclone fans here, but still just human beings though with differing personalities... but we all want the same thing.... WINS!!

Case in point: CJones did make 2 huge FTs, Watson did make a tremendous defensive play, and the team did withstand 2 previous runs that cut the lead to 9 or 10. Would they have done so again if there was more time left? Who knows. The games are 40 minutes and at the end of 40 minutes, the Cyclones were still ahead, as they had been for the entire 40 minutes.

I'm onto the next game. Beat KSU!
