Maybe you're on to something...let's hope.
If I typed as specifically as I meant, I was trying to say that next half inning. Oops.

If Lester can hit, so can the rest of our lineup. Let's get something going.

Unfortunately this feels exactly like last night. Wake up bats!
Cubs don’t have the pitching. Simple as that
The Cubs hitting in the playoffs has been pathetic. Bryant especially has looked like an easy out most nights and some of the pitches these guys are swinging at have to make Maddon wonder where the patience at the plate they usually have has gone. Granted the bullpen has not been good either and starting pitching has had to throw a lot of pitches to get out of jams that could have resulted in big innings but they have pitched well enough that just getting 4 or 5 runs a game should be enough to get a W with this pitching staff but they've had too many of these 1 run games putting the pressure to not give up that 1 bad pitch that puts the game out of reach.
Starting to wonder if not only replacing some starting pitching next season is not the only hole this team needs to look at but also maybe adding an impact bat for the middle of the order that can drive in runs when it counts.
Have you seen our pitching opponents?
Still 71 strikeouts so far this postseason is hard to stomach. The 3 National pitchers we faced make up 3 of the top 5 ERA leaders in the NL.
Kershaw is #1, Hill would be #6 but didn't quite qualify.
