There was some chatter that Gilbert is dinged up coming into the game, and I didn't think he looked quite himself last night. I'm hopeful he is healthy.
I was wondering if he was nursing something. He hasn't been obviously favoring anything specific, but he just suddenly went from looking like an all-conference guard for the middle half of the season to recently struggling to score much or even get good shots.

Keshon's scoring from 1/16-2/19 (@BYU - @HOU):
16,20,15,16,24,8,13,12,24,17, shot 47% in these games

Keshon's scoring in the other four games since @HOU:
8,8,11,8, shot 24% in these games

Was in a glass case of emotion last night.

My biggest question- who is BYUs point guard? Who is the calming influence on court when things are going south?

They have a bunch of good ball-handlers and passers, but I wasn't sure who was 'the guy' to take the ball, settle everyone down, and just be that floor leader. Maybe that's why they look like a top 10 team, but then lose games they probably shouldn't. They looked leaderless the last 4 minutes. They didn't score a SINGLE POINT the last 4.5 minutes!!

Thank goodness for Lipsey being ISU's floor general, but also Curtis - he is an absolute rock out there.
That's because BYU has Dallin Hall who is a sophomore. Give him some time to grow into the role of an experienced player like Lipsey who is (checking notes) a sophomore.

Just kidding, I like Dallin Hall, but Lipsey is another level.

Yeah bite me poor loser Ten_hour_drive! Despite never winning an NCAA Tournament game, I think Mark Pope is a really good coach and will be offered way better jobs after his success this season. BTW I think Steve Prohm would make a good replacement when Pope leaves!
Whiny little *itch - about what I'd expect from a BYU fan. "If we made more baskets, we'd have won." Really? You don't say? He should count it a privilege he was able to experience a game at Hilton.

Hall is really good, but we managed to frustrate him into forcing some things down the stretch.

I wouldn't hate Pav and Watson getting more playing time. Can still win those games but a few extra minutes rest for Lipsey and Gilbert wouldn't be awful.
last night that didn't work, but the changes and substitutions are still being tried.

Playing home games at the altitude of BYU I would have thought that their players would actually have more endurance than ours in the thicker air here. TJ was doing a great job of subbing players in and out, while it did not seem that that BYU was subbing as much, could be less depth or something else.

They were pushing for Duke to jump into the 2 line last night quite a bit, not sure what ISU has to do to get some respect and have the talking heads just realize that we are a very good team.

I think if you look beyond the guys like Jerrry Palm you'll find that we are getting lot of respect from the national talking heads. We more or less led off Sportscenter last night right after the game.

I love the difference in fan base responses on our respective boards to the respective losses of our teams against each other this year.

We lose in Provo and it's largely well s*** we got outplayed, that team's just a bad matchup for us, hope we get them back in Hilton.

They lose in Ames and it's hurf durf the arena was too loud, the students are too close and we can't hear coach, the refs f***ed us, hope they get realigned out, blah blah blah.

I don't know why anyone likes or even tolerates this (BYU's) athletic dept or this school. Bunch of hypocrites. They piss and moan about playing basketball on Sundays and the NCAA has to schedule around them every year, but when their football players get to the NFL all these issues of playing on Sunday vanish. "I'm a highly observant Mormon until you pay me enough money" I guess. Their campus "personal conduct" code also openly discriminates against same-sex relationships. F***'em.

I also don't know how any sane person watches that game and thinks ISU came out favored by the officiating.

It seems like every time they play us they run with the narrative of "Iowa State opposed BYU joining the Big-12" citing something Iowa State student government did. Maybe things operate differently at BYU, but they attribute way too much power to student government -- especially as it relates to athletics decisions.

I'm not normally a blame the officials guy, but the last 2 minutes of that game could have been some of the worst officiating I've seen. The phantom call on Keshon, taking 4 minutes to review an obvious out-of-bounds call, and the non-and 1 for Rob which was the worst of the bunch. Just comically bad and thank goodness we won and it wasn't an issue.

It was brutal, but they took the time to get the clock right on that out of bounds play. I don't think they had to spend too much time figuring out whose ball it was.

Had to be an all timer in person. Senior night, undefeated home record on the line, atrocious officiating getting the crowd all riled up, huge comeback, crazy defensive plays down the stretch.

Those who were there, where do you rank it.

Special shout-out to the fan close to the TV mike.
"********, what a ******** call."
"Cmon red, get your head outta your ass"
Several other lines.
I didn't know they had a mic in the balcony by me

Was at the game and I can honestly say that one is up there as an all-timer for me. The energy in the building was incredible. You could literally feel it. Something I also noticed was when there was a timeout called when the game was tied and we did Juicy Wiggle, there were 3-4 BYU players standing around the huddle who weren't paying any attention to what Pope was saying but instead were staring around at the crowd and the big board. That's just awesome because even they were taking in the environment.

It was one of those games where Hilton Magic truly becomes visible. The relationship between the team and the crowd was beautiful.

Heft said Gilbert looks like hes struggling with injury on the post game show. I would imagine Heft has a pretty good idea what's going on with him health wise. He must be dealing with something.

It took a while because they were reviewing possession and resetting the shot clock, not the out of bounds call. Still took too long.

Great grit as usual and Lipsey played great. Pretty much got the entire Big Rob Energy experience on Senior night which was great. I think BYU is a team that if they get hot in the tournament could have an elite eight run.
