Here's the worst part about it. I've expressed my opinions and concerns about this schedule before, but if we win vs Cincy, @utah, and win a bowl game against a middling P4 team to get to 10 wins, it's still a helluva feat, but which game do you feel great about?

Winning 10 games without beating a single good team would feel pretty hollow to me, but at least we'd have that monkey off our back.
We've potentially beaten half a dozen bowl eligible teams, which isn't nothing.

Iowa
West Virginia
Cincinnati *
Kansas State *

Possibly UCF
Possibly Houston
Possibly Baylor
Possibly Arkansas State
Possibly Utah *

* if we beat them

KU is going to finish 3-9. They aren’t winning those games.
I wouldn't expect them to win either game, but it wouldn't surprise me if they did either.

They are a talented group, but they aren't as good as we made them look yesterday

If I was a stud defensive lineman (which I’m not), no way would I come to ISU to play in a 3 man front and get double teamed every play. You don’t stand a chance being noticed for the NFL.
Disagree. More NFL teams play a 3 man front than a 4 man front. Playing that in college gives them the best film to see how you'd perform in their defense.

KU could end up wrecking the B12's reputation this year. First they lose to Illinois and UNLV. Now they have a chance to knock off ISU, BYU and Colorado. I wouldn't be surprised to see them do it.
Hate to break it to you, but that ship has not only sailed, it's almost to it's destination.

Winning in Kinnick is always hard, but nobody is going to award much credit for betting the 2024 version of Iowa.

WVU and Cincy getting swept by a Pitt team that always felt fraudulent was probably the most devastating blow, not to mention WVU looking bad vs Penn State.

BYU beat SMU, but the Ponies clobbered TCU.

OSU could have looked respectable after beating Arkansas, but they aren't elevating the conference status at all.

Tech struggled with ACU before getting manhandled by Wazzu.

UCF looked like they didn't belong on the same field as a bad Florida team.

Not to mention Colorado, who looks like one of the best teams in the conference right now, was completely outclassed by Nebby.

The national CFB media has used the Big XII's record this year to not only argue against the top 4 conference winners getting a bye, but also to argue against conference winners getting an automatic berth at all. And, frankly, it's hard to argue with them. The Big XII has looked bad. No other way to put it.

The gap between the Big Ten/SEC and Big 12/ACC is even bigger than I thought it was going to be and I thought it was going to be huge and it's only going to get worse as the TV deals really start to take hold.

Passing on 2 Auto bids a piece is not going to age well when we look back at this era of college football.

Looking at it that way, getting to 10 wins, even if we consider the schedule relatively weak, is better than NOT winning 10 against it, I suppose.

I can't disagree with this more if I wanted to.

Iowa State can absolutely compete in the current iteration of this conference. We were competing around the top even when OU/UT were still around. 7-0 felt special and I agree that may be really hard to replicate again, but this will not be the last time we compete for a big 12 title berth by any stretch.

I agree that the future looks bright… but this season had the easiest path I’ve ever seen…

While the offense is certainly not as big of an issue as the defense some of the talk around how they put up great numbers yesterday was a little misleading. A lot of those #s came when the game was out of reach and if you're able to string together better drives in the 1st half the game is much closer and you take the ball away from the KU offense.

A lot of 10 win seasons are made by beating 8 bad teams and a couple decent to good ones. Beating Iowa and Kansas State would be decent to good. West Virignia could qualify. Baylor will probably end up 7-5/8-4. That's how good records work.

Ok cool, they are going to be 7-5. It was on the road against a rival. The point is most 10 win seasons aren't littered with wins over 6 good opponents. You beat the bad teams. You beat the average teams. And you have one or two wins that make the season.
