Yes, I think you’re accidentally proving my point though. You’ve pointed out that we are essentially budgeting to be mediocre, but are we then also going to expect to be at the top of the league record-wise? Not saying we can’t be, but we shouldn’t point to our budget and say that should be the outcome.
How’s that big money spending working out for FSU, Florida, USC, and others. Money is not the issue here.

I'd say tonight is a good example of that.

KU has been weird but Daniels is a talent as is Neal and their receivers.

I think their lines are also underrated.

If they're synched up they're better.

Kansas, another quintessential “big boy” we can’t recruit against.

We are definitely punching well above our weight this year. Wit all the injuries to D and our OLine still sucking ass, we are in a better spot than we should have been. I’m not giving up on this team. I’ve always said, enjoy the ride. We’ve had a couple bumps, but what the hell, we could be Nebraska.

For that matter, we could be Kansas. Even thought they were the ones who took us to the woodshed today, they are the team having to win out to get to any sort of a bowl game. Sounds weird to say based coming off our game with them, but I'd take our team and record 10/10.

That's not what he said at all and I don't find your "spinning" even remotely amusing.

Moving on, this is a disappointing loss and I'm not in agreement with those who are blaming the LB corps. Mike Rose, A.J. Klein and Matt Blair could have been manning the middle for us tonight and we'd have had the same outcome. Our lines, both offensive and defensive, played poorly. Their LT was easily handling Onyedim one-on-one, leaving the four other linemen free to double our NT and LE, then get to the second level, which they did repeatedly. The KU OL put on a clinic. Conversely, our OL is simply offensive - poor Carson Hanson trying to go wide left on 4th & 2 only to get popped by a LB who defeated "blocks" by both Travis & Klotz. I don't know why they're so bad - the OL coach worked wonders at UNI, so he's obviously capable, but you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear! JMHO. Let's put this behind and get ready to play the Bearcats

Have not read most of this thread, so forgive me, but we won two of the three phases of the game today. The special teams played well, the offense put 36 points on the board with only one turnover, a poor decision by Becht, which was a pick six. But scoring 36 points should be enough to win a game. Looking at the teams that won today and are ranked only Ohio State, Colorado and Texas put up more than 36 points. We scored enough to win today.

The defense is a problem, I have said many times the flaw in the system is that it gives a QB all day to sit in the pocket and scan the field till he finds an open receiver. We blitz very little and none of our down lineman are McDonald that can put pressure on the QB and force him to move off his spot. Many times today, the announcers pointed out how much time the KU QB had to scan the field and find a guy. KU had a great game plan to overcome the defense, send the outside guys straight down the field, forcing the deep man to choose one side or the other to cover, and the QB throw to the other side, or we were slow getting over to cut off the pass. They always also running one guy across the middle each play to keep the LBers up to watch and try to stop it. Putting our corners repeatedly in one on one and we got toasted repeatedly.

Time to change up the defense, we put this in over the span of a week or two, put pressure on the Qb by either blitzing early and often or switch it up and go to 4 down lineman. Teams have adjusted to the defense, the coaching staff has to come up with a way to stop that adjustment.

Even when they did blitz today, they were not even close to getting home.

They consistently picked on #19 today. I can think of at least 2 TDs that were directly due to him not making the right play

Alarson, not sure how you can disagree when the last three weeks the defense has given up 35 to UCF, 23 to TT and 45 today to KU.
