I have a little knowledge about both of these vehicles.

I drive a G35 that uses the same engine as the V6 Altima, I owned a 350Z with the Same V6, my wife owns a Rogue with the 4cyl and CVT, and I've also owned a 2006 Honda Accord EX-L with the 4cyl.

If I had to choose between the cars you have listed I would choose the 4cyl Accord, but I would choose the 4 door. A 2 door in these models make no sense unless you're strictly buying for looks.

Nissan has done a good job with the CVT but I still like the automatic in the Accord better. Honda makes the best 4cyl's in the industry and the interior of the Accord will be a touch better. Neither is a bad car, I just prefer the Accord. The CVT does seem to help gas mileage, my wife's Rogue is getting 25mpg, which is pretty good for a small AWD SUV. At the same time my G35 is getting 19mpg and requires premium fuel. Of course it's a lot more fun than her Rogue and is also awd.

If I was in the this market I would also consider a used Acura TSX, you may be able to find one for a similar price as these two.

You could get something like this for around $21K, less than 30K miles, and a good Acura warranty.

2008 Acura TSX BASE, $23,158 - Cars.com

I'm curious why you need a coupe (as opposed to wanting a coupe)?

Regarding the coupe vs sedan performance that someone mentioned earlier, maybe it has something to do with the relative location of the B pillar and structural rigidity of the body - on a sedan it is closer to the center of the car, so perhaps the body is just a touch stiffer...

I am buying strictly for looks.
I don't have any kids and I don't need to hall around people. I just need a small little car that gets me to and from work, is fun to drive, and looks nice.

I guess I shouldn't have said "need" in my OP.

I drove a silver dodge omni for a few years. Great gas mileage, not bad looking, and fun as all get out to drive. Hell, if I found one now in good shape, I would buy it all over again.

Of my past cars, that and my 1990 Honda Accord EX were my favorites. Loved that Accord the most. Bucket seats, rode really low, and had a sun roof. The lady I sold it to trashed the thing months later. Broke my heart.

Youre such a mom.
I gotta back up the mom here. The new Legacy is pretty sweet. I actually think I like the look better than the Accord or Altima, honestly. Subary's reliability is right up there with Honday/Nissan and of course all their cars are AWD as well.

I had an Accord SE-I coupe that I really liked. They were a lot smaller back then.

It was more of a harassment to Angie than to the Sube. I love Suburu's as well.

Nissan v6. One 0f the best engines my last maxima I traded had 393,000 on it. The main diff is nissan has a timing chain and
Not a timing belt. Chains u never have to change. Belts u need to change at 100,000 or so and it costs about a grand.

I have owned a Maxima and Accord V6 Coupe. The accord coupe was a better car, better built, rode better, and was more reliable. I love Nissan, but it is not Honda.

move to japan and be frickin happy

Funny enough that my "Japanese" car was made in America whereas your "American" car was likely giving employment to Mexicans or Canadians. Perhaps maybe even Chinese...

"American" anymore is nothing more than a label that allows union members and supporters to get pissy.

I had an accord coupe. Loved that car! Only got rid of it because I wanted 4doors and hated the black interior. It drove better than any car I've had.

I think Honda has gone backwards in the last few years, but statitically their vehicles tend to be more reliable than the Nissans. Have you looked at anything from Hyundai? They've really gotten their act together in the last few years.

I've got a 5 year old Honda Minivan that has given us zero problems and drives like new yet.
