Here nor there
I love how people constantly say we should skip top-shelf talent (i.e. NN AND NWG) just because we might have a starter in Cooke or Thomas already on the bench. We MIGHT have starters, but last I checked we need more than just 5 players to fill out a solid bench and role players are just as important as starters for a team like ISU. I would take NWG over Cooke and Thomas, just as I'd take NN over both of them. Doesn't mean I don't want all 4 on our roster and they couldn't all get minutes.
Come on Jeremy. Has anyone, let alone "people constantly", said we should skip top-shelf talent (which is a very generous description of NN)? I have seen posts doubting whether NN and NWG would both start in 16-17. Nothing wrong with that.

2nd this RT @ChrisMWilliams: For those asking about Nigel Williams-Goss (Washington transfer) and Iowa State, don’t count on it. #Cyclones

Because the exciting options aren't out there yet...a lot of behind the scenes work

Okay...but another or same poster posted this same hint before Matt left. How do we know the "behind the scenes" exciting options didn't go out the window when Matt left, like some others we obviously already know?

Does it matter if we know or not? You can think whatever you would like.

maybe i missed about it being talked about but anyone know why he wanted to leave and has been given release already? Im assuming he was a major pain in the rear and a bad teammate or something and they were ready to get rid of him anyway?

This. As I wrote earlier in the week, there's no way Matt would have taken Darien without Fred's blessing.

Would Fred have given some coach from, say, Virginia tech the same blessing? Ie was it a green light for Matt to take DW, or for any coach? Big difference, imo.

To revisit NWG's 3 point shooting he may have only shot .256 last year, but his freshman year he shot .356. That doesn't scream lost cause to me. Perhaps a year sitting under Fred's tutelage could make a difference.

Without knowing if Morris will be back for 2016-17 I don't think there is any way he would come anyway.

I'd be satisfied if T.J. gets N.N. and brings Malik Dime back here.
Him getting Dime to Washington & M.A. taking Williams to St. J apparently pisses me off more than
others on here but I just don't think it's right.

Getting Monk, Diallo, and Maker will make me satisfied (and only if they red shirt for their freshman year and then stick around for 4 years). Anything else will be disappointing.

Explain. I'm not saying your right or wrong I just want to know the reasoning behind it.

I say Fred just starts paying players like Coach Cal.

Right, because it's so unbelievable how recruits would want to go to one of the most prestigious programs in the history of college basketball, coming off 3 final fours in the last 4 years, with multiple former players that get drafted in the first round, and facilities that are the best in the country.

Not to be too snarky, but that's freaking great. Just like football, ISU takes the moral high ground and gets beaten by that talent because of it.

He may not have to resort to dirty tactics at UK, but he hasn't always coached there. And despite them not being able to directly pin anything on him who seriously believes he was squeaky clean in what transpired that resulted in the vacating of two Final Fours?
