Very good pick-up guys. I know everyone will be thoroughly impressed with this one for sure!! Very crucial spot to pick a guy up for also.
Is it a "good enough pick-up" that it will move us out of 11th place in the B12 recruiting rankings? I would like to see some improvement in the overall class ranking-although I am pleased with many aspects of this class.

I sure hope it is a DT.

Doran Guillory, is he going to move to DT? He is 6'3" and 270. DT is the position I am most worried about on the team. Without some pluggers up front on D, the rest of the defense does not stand a chance.

once they verbally commit whats the reason for keeping the info a secret? it nice to say you are the first source but after that source becomes the first source why is it necessary to keep the info only on that site. and whats the point of keeping it a secret for as long as it normally takes? I know i probably sound impatient but i am just curious about the proceedures

A "verbal commit" is just a kid making up his mind where to go. There's no saying he won't change his mind. it's not a formal decision. It's not a binding decision. It's just something the recruiting people do to "organize" kids before signing day.

On top of that, the school cannot discuss the kids they are recruiting, so the premium services have to track down who is being recruited by who by talking to high school coaches, the kids themselves, other scouting guys etc. It's a lot of work. Basically, these services are "intelligence gatherers", and members of the sites are paying for that intelligence. Eventually someone who gets paid by an outside source (a newspaper reporter, paid recruiting expert for a major network etc) will pick up on it and report it, and then it makes it out to the rest of the world.

Once signing day hits, there is a binding decision on behalf of the kids, and it's public knowledge who that school has on scholarship for the next year.

While all the "commitment" stuff is great, none of it matters at all until signing day.

Because people are paying for that info on the other site. And since I am also a paying member on that site, I know who it is.

Once a media outlet announces the commitment, then it is public info.

ISU can't annouce a commitment. Has to come from another media outlet as in T.V. or newspaper.

A DT would be great, but what I think would be any better is a 4* (5* is probably out of the question right now) stud at a skill position that other kids across the nation could get excited about playing with. It's probably too late in the recruiting period to hope for this type of domino effect, so maybe next year. I just remember a couple years ago some reports that that Derrick Williams from Penn State was responsible for Justin King and a few other highly ranked players committing.

By the way, I love these threads. It gets me all excited about the future. The only thing that annoys me about them is everyone whining about them.

Ok, a media outlet.

Be careful how you say media outlet also. Rivals gets press passes so if they announce a recruit it can be released?

I am just trying to point out that the arguement is ridiculous. We as mods try to keep premium info off as a courtesy. Nothing more nothing less. It isn't illegal for it to be posted here only against the person who pays premium that spreads it.

What is the point of paying for information that you can't talk about? Just to say na, na, nanna?

Mods, if they are following what Jeremy and Paul agreed to should not have the attitude that they are doing it as just a courtesy.

They have reached agreement and it refelcts the benefits that CR brings to the table, as well as the benefits of this site.

If someone does not want to pay fine. But respect for the work required to get the info is more than just courtesy.

As far as I'm aware, there's no agreement. We under no obligation to remove anything. In fact, it's really CR's or CN's problem that their members are posting information here, not ours.

But in the interest of keeping the peace - we respect their priviledged information and don't allow it until they, or some other media, release it as public knowledge. So in the respect, it's purely a courtesy.
