Special uni's don't make you play better, per se. But it's exciting for the players to do something like that and I think it puts a little extra spring in their step. Plus, having those alt unis as an option is a nice carrot to offer recruits. I'll bet those players at Oregon love having so many unique options.

Sounds crazy but it can actually help with recruiting. One of my close friends is an Oregon alum and I give him crap all the time about the ridiculous uniforms they have, but he forwarded me a story once (can't find it right now) where the athletic department made comic type books of players they were recruiting showing what the player would look like in all the uniform combinations. Several of the players actually said they were looking at several schools but what won them over at Oregon was all the different uniforms. It's totally crazy, but it can make a difference.

Personally, I don't think wearing alternates means you are trying to be flashy.

Army wears their cammo alternates sometimes and they are about as blue collar as it gets.

I love these unis by the way:

I've never imagined an officer as blue collar but sure...whatever.

ALL gold uniforms would be awsome! The best uniforms we've had were the ones when Dan Mac. was here and they were the all white away uniforms.

Ok, I enjoy Oregon football but did these Nancy recruits hold a runway show too?

I'm sure a great looking uni could make a difference with some recruits. I can't see new uni's this year but I think it's worth it to take a look at some uni combos in the off season that might blow the recruits socks off. We've got great colors to work with and I'm sure Nike could come up with some great combos like the one jukebox has done.

Maybe the team was planning a little Tennessee trick from a few years ago. Warm up wearing the normal home uniform, then after they go back to the locker room, come out wearing the all Golds. I know the Tennessee fans went nuts when that happened.
ISU has done that. The first time the Cyclones wore red-on-red was in the Walden era vs. Iowa. They warmed up in regular red-on-gold and then came out in all red for the game.

JUKEBOX- I absolutely love what you have done to this uniform. Every time it see your avatar I think BAD ***!!! This is what I would want to be our uniform to look like if we would ever be chosen to wear one of those Nike Pro Combat uniforms.

With all Pro Combat uniforms there is a theme associated with the uniform so there should be some kind of "cyclone" (tornado) theme associated with the design. I would like to see the same cardinal color with a darker gold- almost like an old gold on the jerseys and pants. Helmets would almost be a reflective "old gold" and cardinal paint also no I STATE logos on the sides- finally the helmet would have a clear coat epoxy over it to protect the reflective paint.

Could the gold jerseys in question just happen to be jerseys a nike rep brought to town? I know there are reps in town all the time trying to sell their product.

Most likely scenario of any mentioned so far.

Several schools have already had to squash similar rumors because someone took a pic of a sample uniform that's never meant to be worn -- concept uniform only.

They aren't going to break something out for a game that isn't on TV. Next week at home against Nebby on ABC? That would make a hell of a lot more sense.
