Just went and tried the new Tedesco's Steakhouse last night on Douglass just east of Merle Hay, used to be Silvestrini's Pizza.
First impressions, looks like a dressed up pizza place, cheap tables and chairs, too bright, nice looking lounge.
Menu, nice selection of steaks, seafood, pork dishes and italian. Would be nice if they had a cheaper-large portion steak. At first glance, a little pricey for the neighborhood and decor. No beer on tap, selection of around 12 bottled beers, thin wine selection.
I ordered the special for the day, a horseradisch crusted sirloin with garlic mashed potatos and asparagus ($22). Wife had the chicken de burgo ($13). We also had the spinich artichoke dip (we get it evrywhere) and the entrees came with a salad.
When the dishes came out I was amazed. The presentation is what you would expect of a much nicer place. I had seen some other dishes come out for others so I had an idea it would look pretty nice. My steak was cut in half and stacked on top of the potatoes with the asparagus around the plate. The steak was amazing! The horseradish was a nice touch especially mixed in with the taters. My wifes chicken was very good too, very tender. The dip was ok, could have used a little more garlic, served with a few pieces of some kind of toast, needed more toast though. The salads were ok, homemade croutons were great though.
***edit - out particular server was pretty bad, but obviously new and inexpereinced. Forgot our water, never brought bread, and some other minor mishaps but the rest of the wait staff looked to be very professional.
Overall, I will definately be back. They may have to lower the prices a bit for the neighborhood but there was alot of walk in traffic. I will give it :yes::yes::yes::skeptical: out of a possible 5:yes:.
