C'mon. Colorado State, Kansas, Minnesota, and even last year's K-State are not "big dogs". They played us 5 years ago and we were coming off a 2 win season. And they were beaten. "Big Dogs"? Spare me. And if they would beat us then they will have just beaten another bottom feeder team. Which UNI and 8 other teams did last year.

Try reading the post before responding to it.

We have succesfully beat teams in the Power 5 confernces. Were they the best teams in those conferences... Heck no. I am not gonna play along here and get into an arguement. That being said.. techniqually, Ball State is a bigger boy than us according to the different levels of college football. Do, I think we are better than them.. yes!

The only reason for the talk about moving up to FBS is because LB brings it up constantly. You guys are D1 in every other sport (I assume?). I see nothing wrong with continuing to be the big fish in the little pond and to enjoy the success you have. ND is a small state, brings very little to the table in terms of money and eyeballs and college football is not moving in the expansion direction. ISU is a tiny guppy in the ocean of the power 5 conferences and that isn't going to change any time soon either.

Yes we are D-1 in all sports, even football though it is a different class..and soon to be two classes below the power 5.

Vraa has a concussion, but we are 18 days from GAMEDAY, he doesn't need anymore practice, he's a star WR.
next WR has a hamstring strain, so 2 freshman are getting looks (1 is a good recruit from Omaha & other from papillon NEBRASKA) ranked # 8 & 9 in 2014 senior class of Nebraska on www.myhitnews.com a neb recruiting website

should be having a scrimmage this Saturday up at NDSU

stormin. Kansas state is a big dog, they were big 12 defending champs, finished 8-4 and crushed michigan in bowl game

I don't bring up fbs, you guys belittle our fbs wins, then say (you wouldn't finish .500 in a fbs league then I have to prove that theory wrong)

we we can stick to NO NDSU FBS talk if you acknowledge that we beat 2 big 12 teams in fball and 1 in basketballs big dance! (Maybe 3 on August 30)

Concussion is not good. Neither is hamstring strain. Having to rely on 2 true freshmen at WR is not a good thing.

Well, Lakesguy, we will be seeing you on the 30th. One thing that I can absolutely guarantee you and your fellow NDSU fans. Iowa State is not looking past NDSU (to the next game). They are looking straight at the Bison. Our season starts on the 30th and the Bison will have the full attention of the Cyclones. Good luck !

Bigsag like Bart Scott says. "CANT WAIT!"
I hope iowa state is ready for a physical game, because that's how NDSU is going to come out & smash mouth it from the opening kick.

I'm trying to figure out how I want the first TD to be scored so it's the most gratifying

90 Yard Drive by our offense where we man handle them down the field

80 yard TD reception by QB against NDSU's future NFL'er (according to lakes)

Pick 6 by Tribune off of NDSU's 7 foot 4 240 pound future all American QB

Or a kick return first play to show that they don't even belong on the same field as ISU.

How about we go for the cycle and do all 4 things during the game? Would be sweet...

I'd pick the first one. Would completely demoralize their defense while giving our new offense a boost of confidence.

Serious Question. Does a Mangino Offense ever huddle?

I think I read somewhere that the offense will be running no huddle still. I'll update if I can find the link.

Edit: This wasn't the article I was thinking of but it says ISU is indeed running no huddle.
Under Mangino, Iowa State will run a no-huddle, spread offense with a lot of three wide receiver sets and only one back. The big change will be in the offense will be pace and a simple approach.
