OMG who cares?

Apparently you cared enough to comment (which you didn't have to if you don't care).

I'm just sharing a little tidbit of information that not a lot of people knew about. UNI did a pretty good job of sweeping it under the carpet. If you know anyone within the college coaching ranks in-state they are all well aware of what happened. Farley lost a lot of respect. They lost a defensive coordinator and at least one, maybe two, linebacker coaches.

Farley lost the respect of his team with the whole MLB situation. I heard he lost the locker room. Deciding to start his son when it was obvious to other players and coaches that he wasn't the best option. They lost coaches because of it, and Chad Gilson transferred to Iowa. He's now #2 on the Iowa depth chart behind Alston.

Wasn't Farley leading the MVC in tackles at the time of his injury?

Didn't they lose the NDSU game largely because of that injury? And Johnson's?

Weren't they in the lead on the road in the 4th Q against the #1 FCS team in the country at the time of the injury?

Didn't they go to OT in the next 3 games?

Did all this happen because "he lost the locker room?"

It wasn't last season. It was two seasons ago. However, I would imagine there are still plenty of players on the team who went through the process.

I found out because I was talking to a coach who personally knew Chad Gilson. Rumors recently came out of the Hawkeyes camp that Gilson has been impressing. This coach confirmed to me that Gilson is now running with the 2's at Iowa and he's only been with the team a year since transferring in from UNI. He went on to tell me about what happened at UNI. He said that it was obvious to all of the Panther players and coaches that Farley's son should not have been the starter. He also acknowledged that Farley's son went on to have a great season last year, but that doesn't change what happened. A DC and at least one LB coach resigned at UNI because of it, and according to him Farley lost the locker room. Obviously, he has probably earned it back. However, things like that can tend to linger.

Hmm, you didn't mention the part about "earning it back" in your earlier post . . . just the part about him "losing the locker room." Might your sources of information be a bit biased in their perspectives?

2011? 2012?

I didn't clarify what year with him, but I'm assuming 2012 because Gilson started practicing with Iowa during spring practice of 2013. This is actually the 2nd time I had heard about it. However, I know that it's true because I trust this source. The first time I heard it was more of a rumor from a buddy of mine who lives in Cedar Falls and follows the Panthers pretty closely.

My main interest in the conversation was Gilson. That's what brought it all up. Gilson is now a senior so it's unfortunate for him that he may not see much playing time at Iowa unless he continues to push Alston for the starting position. I highly doubt that's going to happen though. At least his presence provides an adequate back-up in case of an injury.

Don't think I ever tried to hide it. I root for ISU when they aren't playing Iowa. I have two family members who graduated from there. It's always fun to me when the in-state schools do well. I graduated from Iowa though so when it's head to head that's certainly where my allegiances lie.

I served eight years in the Army. Gives me a little more perspective. Iowan's have a lot in common, and anything in-state for me is fun to watch. Plus I love football. It's more fun keeping tabs on all the in-state schools. I cheered for UNI when they made a run in the NCAA tourney a couple years back too. I don't see anything wrong with it, and honestly I'm not sure why I even feel the need to explain myself to you.

Thanks for the direction tho. You say it with such authority that it's quite funny. I'll be sure to listen... Not.

Did you threaten a state senator each time NDSU won the title, or was it just that one time?

It's pretty obvious from his postings on here that he's got more than a few screws loose. That is an entertaining read. What was the Arizona incident?

Looks like lakesbison sent his email right after Representative Giffords was shot in Arizona. Smart dude.
