Our bench is pretty thin, but we basically have 7 starters. It's definitely a nice problem to have, especially when it's a different guy every game that's coming up with the big shots.

The difference maker is anyone of those seven can play long meaningful minutes.
I think he was fouled at least three times on the one possession when Hogue came up with loose ball and slammed it home. Was mad and thought, well that's probably better than us shooting throws, but McKat did that well tonight.
This. Any game, for no reason, any of our 7 main guys can go off against a team. Any one of them can get 15-20 points and lead the team.
Not many others in the country can say that.
Not saying Matt Thomas is an all-american or anything, but he's had his games too. We don't beat Okie State without Matt Thomas.
I'm with everyone on him being a difference maker as long as he doesn't do that thing where he drives the baseline and jumps right about under the hoop to pass with no clear idea it seems of where he's going to pass it to. Just a terrible idea as there are usually a LOT of bodies around there and he's one "big guy bump" from being pushed out of bounds.
He finished the game; don't think BDJ was in for the final minutes. Will Nader eventually earn a start?
I agree. Possibly 8 starting quality players. I think Matt is a great player who just happens to be a little weaker in a few key areas than the other options.
He is definitely the team's slump buster. He was huge tonight and Fred really seems to have a knack for finding guys with very unique skill sets. You don't find many players with a power forward body with a shooting guard's game.
The block was huge but when he snagged a rebound drove the length of the court and laid it in - for his size - kids got some serious skills.
A team that gets good production out of their 7th man is going to have a good chance to win. If we ever get the normal production out of the starters (McKay included) and both Nader and Thomas, we would be darn near impossible to beat.
He has been a more efficient player since khal coached him up. Time for khal to do his part and write about some of our other bench guys.
Nope. I doubt we see the starting lineup change at all this season. We will see Fred play the guys that are getting it done on that night and to win the match-ups. That has been his style since he started and don't see it changing.
It matters not one bit who starts - had 2 starters on the bench for the final 4+ minutes because Nader and McKay were match-up problems for KSU. Next game it will be different.
Actually, I agree with ISC. He does seem to do it quite a bit more than anyone else on the team. Doesn't mean he's not earning every minute he's getting, it's just a place to improve. Don't leave your feet unless you know what you're going to do with it.
I love that he's seeming to have these "on" games more often now. If we can keep getting these out of him and somehow get Matty going so he can have a couple big games and solidify that 8-man rotation where anyone can really go off that would be so awesome.
