Back in the late 80s Bo Diddley played at what I think was called Peoples on Lincoln Way? He was in the middle of his rebirth with the "Bo knows" commercials. All I can say is "Bo knows" how NOT to please a crowd. 45 minutes of meh effort and he was gone.

At least that's how I remember it...

Who else has let you down?

I saw Van Halen back in 2012 at the Staples Center. I had heard that the group's performance in Denver was lackluster, but had high hopes that they would be better in LA. The band was good, don't get me wrong, but DLR was somewhat of an embarrassment. He looked like he wanted to be a baton twirler more than a singer. He was hopping around, twirling stuff and actually singing for the first third of the concert. However, just as he did in Denver, he was completely gassed about half-way through the gig. He more or less stood center stage and spoke the lyrics, didn't even try to sing. Eddie and Dave did a couple of jumps early in the concert, nothing impressive, but the video screens behind them kept playing it over and over. It was as if they were saying, "look!! we jumped up in the air, landed and no broken hips!!". It was just sad. At least I can say I heard DLR live with Van Halen.

In retrospect, the opening group, Cool & The Gang sounded and looked better.

Jefferson Starship back in the late 80s. Holy hell that was the worst concert ever. My other horrible concert event was Ted Nugent. I actually threw stuff at him it was so awful.

There was another that was really bad back in the early 90s in Hilton, but I can't remember who it was now. I laughed because the lead singer fell down more than I did that night. It seemed like a contest to see who could drink more. They got carried off stage, but I only have a hazy memory of a ****** concert. So, draw?

Had to be Journey and Def Lepard a few years ago at Hilton. Journey front man was out and they had someone else fill in. Really upped the sound to cover his voice. Joe Elliot's voice was shot. Best thing about the show was this 6' 8" guy right near the front with the best mullet I have ever seen!

Lupe Fiasco. Performed during Hawkfest leading up to Iowa's first game in 2009 and was about 90 minutes late to the stage. My girlfriend at the time was a Kirkwood basketball player and had to be back in Cedar Rapids at a decent hour, so I didn't even get to see the concert because we had to leave just as he was coming on.

Sadly, Paul McCartney. Not that he was bad, just no energy on the stage or in the crowd. Really disappointing experience for a lifetime fulfillment of mine.

Jose Feliciano in Fargo, 1996. Some squirrely looking guy and his paid escort at the table next to us wouldn't shut up.

Wrong. I was there. That was Jeff Scott Soto, and even at the end of the show he wore an ISU football jersey, maybe Bret Meyer.
He was their lead singer (at the time).

Had to be 2007 because of elections. John Mellencamp @ Wells Fargo on Des Moines. He stopped the concert to bring out John Edwards and pitch his politics on the crowd. I've never, ever heard more booing in my life.
This isn't about what political party was represented, it was about people spending money to watch John Mellencamp, and get a break from politics, which we didnt.

John Edwards ran in 2004. I didn't think he did again in 2008 because of the whole "having a baby with his mistress while his wife died from cancer" scandal thing he had going on.
