Mexican restaurant in Ames?

Plenty of great Mexican places in Ames.

I'm giving a shot out to Taqueria Los Compadres in Story City.

Great people own it, and it's really good. If you're chuggin' up 35 past Ames sometime, give them a shot. They serve horchata, they've got lengua and al pastor available. Top notch.

Go to Carlos OKelly's. The only good authentic Mexican restaurant I've had is El Rodeo in Urbandale

Never try Carlos O'Kelly's, same with La Fuente. It's terrible. El Azteca in north Ames is the best in the area.

That one on 7th ave in Marion, I dont remember what its called, has a "house specialty" that can do you over with just one. It tastes pretty decent for the alcohol content. Or if you are in Cedar Falls, Carlos on Thursday? Many of missed Friday classes in my college career due to this.

Villas Patio? Haven't been there in several years, may have to go on my next trip home.

I'm going to have to try that place too. The only "authentic" Mexican I've had in Ames is La Fluente. It was absolutely horrible. The same with the Mexican place in Boone, Nevada, and Marshalltown. Terrible

Mi Casita in Nevada is freaking fantastic authentic Mexican!

Any time I've ate there (only 3 and with my wife) our plates come out hot, the food is cold in the middle. Got sick after the last time I ate there. Never again.

Go to Azteca, solid people and good food.
Screw Fuente. How many people have gone there asking if they have T Shirts if you do the margarita challenge, and when you complete it, they don't?
I've seen the owner of Azteca in other businesses in Ames, and he's a real nice guy.

The north El Azteca is our favorite in Ames. Salsa is delish.
