I have no idea which used to be a sponsor here, but you can't go wrong with either El Azteca or La Fuente.

El Azteca is good in Ankeny, they have a location in Ames also out on highway 30.

Go to Carlos OKelly's. The only good authentic Mexican restaurant I've had is El Rodeo in Urbandale

Dos Rios on Court Ave. in downtown Des Moines is pretty good Authentic mexican as well.

I'd suggest you try this place as well. The make the guacamole right at your table exactly how you like it (spicy, not spicy, with lots or little vegetables, ect)

IMO, its not authentic unless I have a burning ring of fire 4 hours later and one margarita can do me in. Just my opinion.

What size? I have yet to try the fishbowl but the jumbo has done me over several times.

That one on 7th ave in Marion, I dont remember what its called, has a "house specialty" that can do you over with just one. It tastes pretty decent for the alcohol content. Or if you are in Cedar Falls, Carlos on Thursday? Many of missed Friday classes in my college career due to this.
