Did the OPs collection:
  • #12 James Madison over #5 Wisconsin
  • #11 New Mexico over #6 Clemson
  • #12 McNeese State over #5 Gonzaga
  • #11 Oregon over #6 South Carolina
  • #10 Nevada over Dayton
Opened this thread and wondered if we did the same ballot, but we didn't. Mine is crazier.

I threw in #14 Morehead St. over #3 Illinois, #10 Drake over #7 Nevada, #13 Vermont over #4 Duke (gotta get that 12/13 matchup set up).

Ended up with 5 Big 12 teams in the Elite Eight, as well as UConn, Creighton, and St. Mary's (because **** UNC).

Final Four of ISU, Baylor, Creighton, and Houston.
ISU over Houston for the whole enchilada, because of course.

Your Final Four is the one I keep coming up with as I work through the bracket, no matter how I look at the games. I may just have to go with it, but it doesn't feel right. But an ISU/Houston final would simply be the best kind of bonkers ever.

5% of all submitted ESPN brackets picked ISU to win the whole thing.

Only teams picked more than us are UCONN, Houston, North Carolina, Purdue.

I've got Charleston over 'Bama and Vermont over Duke for big 1st round upsets

My surprise S16 teams are Miss St over UNC and CU/Boise St over Marquette.

Still deciding what to do with NC State, too. I could see a path for them to the E8 if they get past TTU. Marquette and UK are both upset-prone IMO.
Texas Tech will either run them off the floor, or get run off the floor. There seems to be no middle ground with that team. I don't know what they're going to do with that big dude NC St has

I know GCU is a sexy pick but I have StMarys in my Final Four.
I've got JMU in Sweet 16 over Vermont.
Gonzaga in Sweet 16.
SDSU in Sweet 16.

I don't really love those teams, just their paths.

Now I jinxed them.

Found this interesting:

I used this tool and 3 of the Final Four picks are good, but the 4th is McNeese State. I'm tempted to just throw this bracket into a cheap pool I'm in for ***** and giggles.

I agree. I ended up with Baylor, Purdue, Houston, and us. Purdue just has such an easy path…and I think Drew is the difference in helping Baylor get past Arizona. Houston also had a path that felt very doable for them…

I’m always solid in rounds 1 and 2. Then some lady who picked FAU beats me in the end

I haven't assessed where I'm selecting the upsets yet.

The first that jumped off the page was (12) James Madison over (5) Wisconsin. I have a feeling that will be a common 12/5 upset, along with GCU/SMC.

I might stretch w/ one 13-over-4, but not sure which. I think Alabama is vulnerable vs. Charleston, but styles are similar and can CofC out-Alabama Alabama? That game's going to be 107-97 or something.

Typically I consider a 14-3 and want to attempt at 15-2, but I rarely do.

I've got the same FF with ISU over Creighton but I'd prefer your outcome.

Agreed on you with Charleston. I tend to go against teams from the P6 that do nothing but score and play zero defense. Looking right at you Bama and Kentucky.

One of these years when we are the trendy pick we have to actually do it right? Right?!?!?!

I want to pick James Madison, but to me it just screams too easy and Wisconsin has started to play much better lately. The Badgers to me are that prime example of a team that has no business in the Sweet 16 but will find their way there.

I almost always move at least one 11 to Sweet 16, and frequently have two 11s to Round of 32. I tend to not trust 6's. My success rate is ... OK. Usually it's a matter of finding which teams might do that.

My choices this time are New Mexico and Oregon ... but I don't know if I like either to go two rounds. NC State is tempting, but it's placed w/ Kentucky in round 2; I think UK is reaching Elite 8.
