There is a book I’ve been meaning to read by Ryan Holliday with this exact title: “Ego is the Enemy.” I wonder if Campbell is drawing from that.

Pro tip: read the article, you will wonder no longer!

Campbell’s guarded against that since day one, regardless of any accolades he or anyone else might receive. Ego is the Enemy — which happens to be the title of a 2016 book by Ryan Holiday. High praise is nice, but deflected and shared.

All BS aside, this is refreshing and I'm thrilled that it's part of ISU. This feels like who we are as a university and as a culture of ISU students, alum and fans.

Nationally, we hear the opposite regularly and the concept of ego is rarely discussed. We all know the state of affairs and this appears to be swimming a bit upstream right now.

The truth of the matter is that even at 45, what I'm hearing CMC say and do is causing me to reflect on what I do, both at home and at work and it's a positive impact for me personally...and I'm not a young, impressionable youth. Imagine the impact he's having on these kids.

The only caution here is to hold him up too high because at some point, CMC will do or say something we don't agree with. He's human and will stub his toe, but I applaud his character and that he appears so steadfast in what he believes. I'm positive that even when we witness his mistakes, he'll handle them with grace and integrity. Seems to be the foundation of who he is...and very impressive for a guy his age.

What a great asset to our university and to our program.
