Malou's issues are not grades - related academic, as I understand it, but more of the educational sufficiency of the institutions where he has been. Additionally, he's not your traditional Sophomore, from an age and history standpoint. He has to declare in order to not lose yet another year of competition, but he fully understands that showing his game at the Big 12 level is clearly his best option.
I remember speaking with a D1 coach recruiting him at ABCD who said he is clearly NBA -skilled, but he will never get into school. This coach believed he would go international and get to the NBA that route. He certainly did not think he would go JUCO. Believed he was a one-and-done guy out of ABCD.
