obivously the kid is good, however, at the end of the video when he hits the game winner, he has teammates wide open(he's double teamed).

My only critique and that it's mostly dunks, though the video title tells you it's showing off his athleticism. At ISU, he'll have teammates he'll trust in that situation so he doesn't chuck up stuff like that.

A high school kid took an ill-advised shot.

Don't want.

This board delivers.

might wanna re-read the first sentence of my post again if you are going to make stuff up.

Not to mention that this kid is a junior now, so the highlights we saw were from his freshman or sophomore year... Un-freakin-believable

I want kids that take the last shot when it is open, but give it up to wide open people if it's not there.

When you start being hyper critical of highlight videos from a kid that every program in the country wants, and one that would be a lottery pick out of HS if he was eligible, you start to look dumb.

I'd rather have Michael Jordan take a game winning shot triple teamed than anyone else on those rosters wide open.

good thing MJ himself wouldn't.

the 2nd to last game winner, he had no choice but to shoot, so that's not on him.

The last one I would be ****** if I were in the teammates shoes. 2 wide open guys on the wings.

I don't know, if I were his high school teammate I would mostly just be giddy that he is on my team. It is also a high school game, so the play was probably something along the lines of, "space the floor and have Monk hit another game winner."

The first shot was just two days earlier, so I'm sure everyone's confidence in him was just oozing. A lot of high school players I know would have shat themselves if he had given the last shot up to them in that situation.

He is a long shot, but so is nearly every recruit.

Arkansas is a clear frontrunner on the speculation trail, but 99% is an exaggeration. Kentucky is on him hard as well. Athlon interview has him intrigued by playing in the Big 12 conference, so there's that. But at the minute Arkansas is the favorite. I'd assume they've probably been recruiting him the longest, but idk.

Most of all, just good for Iowa State to get their name more commonly attached to these top kids. The team is going to be really good again, and the offensive output is insane. Tons of players are going to be attracted to the video game numbers the Cyclone offense puts up.

I agree Arkansas is the favorite and to getting ISU name attached to other top player it opens the eye's of the next crop to seriously consider the program moving forward. Thus it never hurts to talk to and offer MM and who know, Fred is pretty persuasive.
Another advantage is to get a relationship going with these elite players so even if they don't commit to this staff out of HS in cases were the program they choose to go to doesn't work out (bad fit, coaching change, or post season ban) the ISU staff will have a built in advantage to the second recruiting effort.

If the staff could get Monk it would be huge and that's an understatement. I thought they would have been on him sooner

Monk's brother played football and basketball at Arkansas.

Never said we didn't want him, just that it was a stupid play to highlight.

If you don't know the feeling of "I have a better shot of making this 30 footer than that guy does of hitting a 3 footer" you've never played pick up basketball.
