I just want Prohm to beat a team that isn't a mid-major or a low-major in the tourney.

So you want him to get a bad seed? He’s earned the opportunity to play low majors and mid majors in the first rounds. Sorry he’s successful. He lucked into it his first year but so has Bruce Weber and Scott drew before.

If we get a good enough seed we should have opportunities to play high major teams in the 2nd round and Sweet 16, thats what I want to see.

Is that not a fact? What high major teams have we beaten in the tournament? Im sorry you live in a fantasy world.
He’s 3-2 in his first two tournament appearances, with the two losses to P5 teams. Better than the previous coach. He’s also never been upset by a worse seed, which Hoiberg did twice in his 4 tournament berths.

Do you really want to say we were upset by the eventual national champion, playing 2 hours from their campus, and without Niang? I guess if you go by seed you are right, however if you think that was a huge upset you dont know much about basketball.

...are you qualified to make this judgement of others?

Yeah, if you think the UCONN sweet 16 game in MSG was an upset your basketball knowledge should be judged as incompetent. It looks like we trailed by 8 points on average that entire game, 2nd worst trailing margin that entire year. In other words, we weren't even in the game.

Not sure that's it's worth its own thread, so here's a bracket projection from today:

https://watchstadium.com/news/stadiums-ncaa-tournament-projections-friday-feb-15-02-15-2019/

This has us at a 4 seed.

Edit- Looking at how that breaks out, I'd almost rather have us at 6. Sure, we'd play a 3 in the 2nd round, and potentially a 2 in the next, but we'd avoid the 1's. Not sure I want any part of Duke, Virginia, Gonzaga or Tennessee in the Sweet 16. The 2's are more vulnerable (Michigan, Michigan State, UNC and Kentucky).

I could see it that way, 2 seeds are bound to be more vulnerable if you can climb past the 11 and 3.

But I'd take a 4 seed in that region with little hesitation. Tennessee could be a handful, for sure, but no more than the other 1 seeds. Getting past the first weekend looks encouraging, I'm not scared of facing Yale, then VT/IU/ASU ... then if either St. John's/Ohio State upset UT, I like our chances there a lot.

Well, you were one that implied Purdue and Virginia were mid-major programs.

It is too early to judge Prohm on the NCAA tournament quite yet.

“Is that not a fact”? Is it not a fact that Hoiberg lost to two worse seeds? Oh, you mean now you’re wanting to use reason, not some contrived stat?

The UConn game was a reasonable loss. No different than the Purdue and UVa losses.
