Low Calorie Meals

So the title pretty much says it all. I've been tasked with cooking for my lady friend and myself for the next couple weeks. We're both on diets and both tired of the typical salad type meals. Does anyone have any good ideas for low calorie recipes or meals? (No shrimp please. I can't stand shrimp.) :yes:

What are you looking for exactly? The options are almost endless.

Snacks? Whole meals? Breakfast? Lunch for work? Dinner at home? So many variables.

Well I would say mostly just dinner ideas. We both do fat free yogart for breakfast and salads or veggies for lunch/snacks. It can be whole meals or just entrees. Stir-Fry is something we do alot of.

Fresh chicken and lean red meat. You can spice it up in a million ways and choose different cuts to keep the meals from becoming repetitive.

Eat any and all whole fruits and vegetables as side. Avoid canned foods as much as you can mostly because fresh tastes better although some people swear against canned foods. Buy in small quantities, which requires more trips to the store unfortunately, but it will cut down on food spoiling before you can consume it.

You should really be worried about what the food is instead of how many calories it is... I'm not an engineer so I may be off on my wind calcs.

Eat whatever you like, just eat less of it.

Smart phones have made fat loss simple. Get a food scale, measure and weigh most things, track your calories with your phone.

We're both logging our foods and intake with out Galaxies. I'm just looking for some healthy alternatives.

Any spice reccomendations? I'm up to try new things and usually cook some what bland.

Pretty much this. Plus, all calories are not equal. 500 calories that will have you hungry again in an hour (pasta or other carbs) is worse in the long run than 500 calories that keeps you full for several hours (meats)

Boca burgers are pretty good and generally only around 150 calories. With condiments and a bun you're looking at maybe a 250-300 calorie food. Maybe throw in some green beans and a side salad and you can get a filling dinner for not many calories.

I really like this soup - it does have some half and half in it. We did all black beans and put in some diced tomatoes.

those of you suggesting stir-fry, what are your seasonings? I stopped making ours because it was too bland (used a garlic/brown sugar/soy sauce combo) .......it was missing acid or something, I think. Just didn't have any zing.

I'll agree with this for the most part. You should still live a little too. Don't starve yourself but don't eat McDonald's three times a day. You can eat a large amount of the right foods and be better off than eating small portions of bad things.

I have a friend who is in absolutely great shape and he'll eat 8000 (!!!) calories some days but it is all really healthy food, high in protein.
