- Why have we turned KH loose on this hire without any input from others?
He repeatedly said that he was going to search for a nationally recognized coach to lead us back to being an elite program and he offers up a coach that, except for one year, has a horrible won/loss record with the players that he recruited. His teams also have discipline issues off the field and are high in the nation in total penalties per game.
Kirby has shown how ineffective he is by having absolutely no plan for the inevitable. Every AD in America should have a list of potential replacements in his desk drawer. It appears that he woke up Sunday morning and decided to start the process and is wandering around in circles.
He takes credit for great hires in basketball and baseball but insiders claim that he was pushed into both by donors. His previous history of hiring a football coach at Miami was a disaster and he should not be released unsupervised on this one.
On the first day that he was here, he stated that his ultimate goal was to be a conference commissioner. Every move he has made has been with that in mind - from preening before the cameras on the selection committee to his Tech responsibilities.
He has no loyalty to Texas Tech and we should first get rid of him and let him go elswhere to pursue the Big 12 Commisioner job when it opens up.
Then we can hire a real coach with national recognition.
