Our mattress is shot and I'm hunting for a new one. I basically don't trust any of the sites that pop up on searches because who the hell knows who's paying them or not so I thought I'd come to the place where I know people know a little something about spending time on a mattress. We aren't trying to spend a fortune and what I've read leads me to believe there's no reason to and I'm looking for peoples experience. It seems like Nectar has gotten really consistent reviews so that definitely interests me. We would possibly be interested in something like Sleep number or Tempurpedic. I'm not real picky on firm or soft as long as there's support. She would like something a little on the softer side and we both want something cool although we kind of intend on getting and Eight Sleep system or something similar in the future if needed. Any feedback or things to avoid is appreciated.

I got a winkbed 6 or 7 years ago and have enjoyed it.

My last several mattresses have been from Denver Mattress. However, they don’t sell them in Central Iowa….so I am likely going to have to start over.

They're on the pricier side, but I cannot speak highly enough of Purple mattresses. We have two now and have had our first one for 4ish years. Still feels as great as it did when we first bought it.

Best advice- find a buddy that just bought one. They can give the bed to someone else if not 100% satisfied in 3 months. I got a Brooklyn Bedding Aurora mattress for free with this method.

I have a Sleep Number bed and have been really happy with it. It is pricey, but in my opinion well worth it. A good night's sleep is worth quite a bit to me.

Many of the mail order mattresses will offer a 90 or 100 day return policy, and I've never heard of one not standing by it. We returned our first one from Casper (a long time ago - it was actually donated to a local shelter), they replaced it with a different model, we loved it. They would have returned our money as well. Bought a couple other products the same way since - kept one mattress, returned one pillow.

If you like the memory foam mattresses, try Novaform from Costco.

In 2018 we decided to buy a new mattress in 2018, put our (Sealy or Serta) memory foam on the guest bed and bought a hybrid mattress. Hated the hybrid.

Decided to bite the bullet, spend the money and bought a Tempurpedic Coolbreeze. Didn't like it.

That's when we bought the 12" Novaform advanced back support memory foam from Costco. $650
Love it.

FWIW, I've heard Purple is good. We have friends that spent 12k on a new Sleep Number a few months ago. Talked about it a lot before it was delivered, but since they got it we haven't heard anything more.

We bought a queen size TempurPedic when we first got married, and had it for about 10 years. By then, we had had two kids, and she thought we needed a king size bed (marriage…am I right? But that’s a different topic). We handed the TempurPedic down to our oldest, and bought a king size Stearns and Foster. Worst decision of our ******* lives (we both agree). The S&F is is an OK bed, but it can’t hold a candle to the TP.

I will say, TempurPedic isn’t great for stomach sleepers, but I am a stomach sleeper and I wish every day that I could go back in time. I don’t know if someone could pay me to buy something else once we finally decide we’ve had enough of the S&F. We’re going back to TP.

Wearing out a mattress could be a good sign...or not.
