12K for a mattress? WOW that is living large in my book.
You spend a third of your life sleeping, and most mattresses will last you 15 to 20 years, there is not a better investment on your long term both physical and mental health than a good mattress. You pay for what you get, but what is the price of a great nights sleep most of the time?

Pulled the trigger on a Dreamcloud Premier Rest this morning. They had a 50% flash sale and I was leaning that way so I figured we will give it a try and send it back if we don't like it.

One thing that bugs me with mattress companies are the constant sales. My lord, it's something different every day with every one of them. Just price your damn product and sell it. I think yesterday was 40% off and today it's 50%. I figure it won't get much higher than that but it makes a guy wonder what day is the right day. I suppose that's how they got me to order one today though so who's really the sucker here?

We just got a new one this summer, went with a medium firmness, spring one at Homemakers.

I can't stand foam mattresses. It's like they slowly swallow you up and it's hard to get out of.

My parents have had a sleep numbers for 20+ years now, now on their second. I like them, but the hard divider seam in the middle of the bed is a dealbreaker for me.

A lot of this is really what you pay for and the options you choose. A lot of the lower end foam mattresses will be like that but many of the more advanced ones with multiple layers of foams will have more support particularly on the edges so you avoid that 'swallowed up' feeling.

Theres also the option of hybrid beds which offer the best of both. Thats what i went with.

Has anybody had issues with their Tempur-Pedic getting permanent softness or sloping downward into your sleeping position? We have a queen size that's only about 8 years old that I sleep on and I always sleep on my side on the left side of the mattress. It only took maybe 2 years to have the problem. The Tempur-Pedic we had prior developed the same issue. Granted, I'm fat.

Yeah we looked at those too. Maybe I am also too fat. But I just didn't enjoy how they felt. Another reason I'm glad to shop in person for things like this.

Saatva is the best bang for your buck mattress out there. I've had the Saatva classic for 5 years and when I wasn't in a relationship, I had many compliments on how comfortable my bed was.

Last year I bought this combo and have been happy with it. Having adjustable sides is a game changer since my wife has trouble sleeping flat.

Titan Plus Luxe
Twin XL (2)

Members Mark adjustable base split king. I joined Sam's just to buy this version, which has a lot of good reviews.

I had a Tempur-pedic for about 10 years that was great at first but caused great back pain eventually for both me and my wife. (Stomach sleeper, wife side neither heavy). The mattress had obvious damage at the pressure points, so I cut it up to throw it in the garbage. The foam had degraded to powder in all those places.

Any still looking around in the Des Moines area, Urbandale High Performing Arts is hosting a mattress sale on the 28th. As a fund raiser, a percentage of the sales goes to UHS. It’s basically a pop-up!

Purple mattress hybrid. Doesn't cave in the middle and supports the body well. Good for sex too.

Really good. We both seem to really like it. My wife is pregnant and she's said it fixed a lot of the hip/back stiffness/soreness that she had last time she was pregnant. It's maybe a little firmer than I thought it'd be which is good for me and she was a little concerned about that but it's been a good buy so far.
