I like Hornacek idea, and then Thibs to Phoenix, just to stick it to the Bulls.

Although whoever had the great idea of paying Thibs Hoiberg's buyout to coach ISU and have the Bulls pay him the rest of his $9 mil, I like that too.

He can't pay what he doesn't have. He can't offer a coach $5 mil per year when the AD doesn't have that kind of money and two there is no justification to pay someone that much.

The AD starting this year is bringing in over $25 mil more per year than before. The new TV deal. Per Year. The improvements thru bonds are already set up on a repayment plan and we are making more interest on those bonds than paying out. Zero need to pay them off right away.

Pollard is screwing this program by being more concerned about the money than winning.

Their isn't a single name on that realistic list that wouldn't start a lynch mob at Pollard's house.
Then you don't know who Brad Underwood is... He would be great, if/when the time comes.

I can't believe Doc isn't on the list. I really like TJ however it is pretty clear from the list who has not been a head coach. If this is the best we can get at least there will be tickets available for Hilton again in the near future.

Doc has shown himself to be a pretty mediocre head coach over the years.

You have got to be kidding? Why are some suggestion Doc Sadler? The guy was an awful coach at Nebraska. His best days are behind him. He's a good asst but that's it. He got thrown into a **** storm at MS....but he's not the guy for ISU.

Always liked Doc, even when he was at NU but his strength is as a bench coach. His role while here was perfect for him.

Yep. He was a great assistant hire for us. I don't think he's the guy to be the HC.

uhg...just keep Otz. I don't want players transferring and ISU having to start again from scratch because we hired a coach away from what we've built the last few years. I hope JP finds a young players coach with NBA ties!

deep sigh

Hornacek would soften the blow some. Still would like Hoiberg to stay obviously, but Hornacek would make sure the immediate future will have potential for great things. Anyone else on that list to me leaves me with a lot of question marks. Not to say Drew or TJ or someone else on that list couldn't turn out to be successful at ISU. I just think Horny gives us the best chance at not losing momentum or taking multiple steps back before going forward again.

No matter what, Otz has to remain as at least an assistant, otherwise the whole program might fall apart.

I think Underwood is a good coach, but that is a huge leap from SFA to a top 10 preseason team.

ANYONE, barring some huge surprise, will have a huge leap. Even Hornacek. But TJ will have the biggest leap of them all. But me personally, I'd rather go from successful mid-major coach to ISU HC than assistant with no head coaching experience who previously left ISU for a lesser job to ISU HC.
