Give Hornacek 3 mil a year and call it a day.

The way the NBA works if he is out to earn it makes sense for him to take it. I don't see any championship level roster teams trying to poach JH and I don't see Phoenix having their own title worthy roster, he's done very well just having them in western conference playoff contention.

If we hired Manning, he could finally win in ames.

The only reason I'd like to see Danny Manning ISU Basketball Coach is for the comments after we beat KU and the officials reverse the game result. That alone could potentially be worth the fact that if we won under him he'd eventually be Kansas head coach.

Way up there
Or more particularly, a guy whose resume is 1 NCAA upset.

As opposed to TJ's? I don't want Haase here, he just has a better assistant coach resume than TJ and has been a head coach. IMO TJ is the least desirable guy on the list. A 100% backup plan who has recruited a couple 4* guys. An assistant with his resume with no ISU ties would get torn apart on here if mentioned as a candidate.

Story Co.
I misunderstood after the first read so I'm glad I went back and read the OP again. Totally thought you were saying we would have to pay 2.5 for your realistic candidates. I would have done it respectfully of course but I was about to tell you how ridiculous you sound posting stuff like that. This is why I always reread at least once when something doesn't make sense.

Now as far as the list goes, meh but I'm so wrapped up in my Hoiberg depression that it would probably take Coach K to cheer me up. Please tell me you're hearing good things about Coach K being a realistic possibility. PLEASE CHRIS PLEASE!!!!!

Hornacek would be amazing given our other options. As others have said, its a pretty underwhelming list.

Pollard is screwing this program by being more concerned about the money than winning.

Their isn't a single name on that realistic list that wouldn't start a lynch mob at Pollard's house.

Haase is almost as bad as USC hiring Andy Enfield.

I think we deserve better.

You obviously know nothing about up and coming college coaches.

You have to get a big name or have a guy with NBA connections to get talent. Knock it off with the mid-majors bafoons. If Fred walks you gotta go big because that is the how big the void would be without Fred. The name needs to be associated with Winning! Bust out huge bonuses for championships etc. It has to be 100% about the W

He can't pay what he doesn't have. He can't offer a coach $5 mil per year when the AD doesn't have that kind of money and two there is no justification to pay someone that much.
