So you think that someone who can coach at the highest level of basketball can't coach at lower level? That just doesn't make any sense.
You know why there isn't precedent? Because the NBA is the pinnacle of basketball and if you can coach in the NBA you don't usually take a step down.

I do think Phil Jackson would fail miserably at the college level. He showed that he doesn't really like working with younger players and prefers veterans. He's insistant on the triangle offense which I don't think would have worked well at the college level.

I get around
Nope. I'm not saying TJ would be a better hire than Hornacek at all. I'm just saying there is not any objective evidence that supports Hornacek being a slam dunk better hire than TJ at all. There is no slam dunk evidence saying TJ would be a better hire the Hornacek either.

There is clear evidence of a potential bias in the favor of Hornacek when debating coaching prospects just because Hornacek is a Cyclone LEGEND.

That may be true for some, however my bias toward Hornacek is based upon a number of things related only to his coaching abilities.

1. Johnny Orr himself stated that Jeff was a coach on the floor. That's a pretty good assessment of Jeff's abilities as a coach and shows that he is very proficient at the college game.

2. Jeff's father was a basketball coach and coached him in high school. Thus Jeff was introduced to coaching at a very early age and was exposed to the coaching game at the high school, college and NBA levels.

3. Jeff came to college as a walk-on. Red-shirted. As a red-shirt freshman, he played in a few games and then became the starter for the rest of his career. This shows me that he is a smart learner and knows how to execute.

4. He was runner up for NBA coach of the year in his first year of NBA coaching. His peers realize his coaching talent.

5. Last year he took a bad situation and ended up with a pretty good team. A very good job of coaching. http://www.azcentral.com/story/spor...jeff-hornacek-coaching-playoffs-nba/25744071/

6. Jeff has worked up through the coaching ranks, starting as the shooting coach for the Jazz and then as the assistant head coach.

I agree that Hornacek happens to be a Cyclone Legend and in addition, a Jazz Legend (both teams have retired his jersey), however it is his coaching abilities that make him an attractive candidate for our job.

So he'll stop beating you guys in the NCAAs and instead do it three times a year during the conference season?

Haha, so you're saying ISU wouldn't be able to beat us in the NCAAs if Marshall were the coach?

Also, he'd only be able to beat us twice at most - we're not losing at home.

If you aren't losing at home than he was clearly saying NCAA's....

But I agree with you for the most part. If Gregg Marshall could beat us with that make-shift group of oddities at WSU, he should be able to do a whole hell of lot more with the team you guys have now.

1. No, that's not even close to what I said.

2. How many times have you sacked up and played Marshall in Allen Fieldhouse?

I personally would love to play Marshall in AFH, but I have no power. We would demolish WSU at home, much like we will demolish Kentucky at home this year.

I'll believe it when I see it. Though I do think you have a better chance this year than you would have had last year if you'd have played them at home.

Eh, you may want to pump your brakes a bit on that prediction. We aren't demolishing Kentucky.

LOL, might want to start by just trying to keep it within 30 points this time.
Agreed. I don't think that will be a problem but Kentucky is still going to be really good next year. We aren't going to hang another 150-95 on them.
