Just a question but why does everyone think a former player for ISU would make a good coach? Yes Hoiberg did but that's not your average hire.

Because Hornacek is ALREADY a good coach. That fact that he is an NBA coach that is a former ISU player is a reason to pursue him. He may say no, but he is not completely out of reach.

It is different than suggesting Fizer or Grayer should be coach.

The whole thing stinks. Hoiberg telling recruits he isn't staying here? Hoiberg hiring an assistant while he's secretly planning on leaving? Hoiberg telling the assistant he will be the next head coach - an assistant that left ISU for greener pastures, but is now a loyal Cyclone and now loves Ames? Hoiberg leaving Ames and a guaranteed job for life to coach the Bulls? The Bulls, who just fired one of the top coaches in the NBA, to replace with someone with no NBA coaching experience? It it ends up OTZ, then we'll soon need a thread for possible Pollard replacements.

Don't forget the former boss of the assistant who apparently is a fortune teller with his comments.

Was Fred supposed to just not have a full staff for the last two months?

I'm not sure why it is so hard to understand that some people feel like they've been played in this whole saga. Hoiberg has played us. TJ has played us. Pollard has played us.

Hell the only one that told the damn truth was the Washington coach. Maybe we can hire him.

Give it a ******* rest! We understand that you think this whole thing has been set in motion since we "supposedly" landed on the moon and JFK set in motion all the world events that would dictate TJ being the next coach at ISU in 2015. We ******* get it, stop posting every other post in every other thread about "oh, we suck if all we can get is TJ", "it's TJ so why even care", etc. Seriously, enough.

For **** sake. Pollard and TJ haven't played anyone. If TJ is hired it's because he thought TJ was the best available candidate for the job not because he wanted to get one over on the fanbase. These types of comments are completely ignorant and void of any value to anyone. You have single-handedly made anything related to Hoiberg unreadable. Back to Twitter until something happens I guess.

I get around
Because he's the current coach of the Phoenix Suns who has over achieved with his roster. And was runner up to NBA coach of the year last year. That's an insane resume for ISU standards.

Realistic chance to get him aside, how in the world does someone advocate hiring an assistant coach with no head coaching experience over that???

I couldn't have said that any better! He still holds ISU records and has a sterling resume. More here:

I, for one, think that McD left Pollard was devastated. To maintain the McD legacy, he had to hire TJ at some point. It was clear at that time that TJ didn't have the experience to win the fanbase over so instead, he thought he'd hire Hoiberg, knowing full well that in 5 years he'd get a top 5 job in the NBA and then he could hire TJ. Little did he know, jsb would be onto him.
