It's difficult to compare Kobe and LeBron because they have very different styles. Kobe plays more like Michael and LeBron plays more like Magic.

Guys guys guys if you think that Lebron is as good as Kobe than you haven't watched to many games. There is a reason that every player in the NBA agrees Kobe is the best. He has hit more clutch shots in one postseason than Lebron has in his 4 year career so far. Watch the games and notice how defenses play against him. No other player has ever been guarded like Kobe.

Lebron is great. I am not arguing that. He will be an all star for years to come, but at THIS POINT in his career he is not Wade, Kobe, Duncan, and Nash in the fact that he doesn't consisently take over games. He was something like 2 for 20 something in shots to win/tie games in his career going into this season. If you don't let him get to the lane he can't beat you.....YET!!

People hate on Kobe and that is fine, I understand that, but he is by far (and not even close) the best player in the league. He has Smush Parker and Sasha Vujacic as point. Kwame Brown and Ronny Turiaf at Center. A hurt Odom who shows up for every 8th game. His team stunk and he still led them into the playoffs 2 straight years. Plus he plays in the West and not the East so his season takes more of a toll on him than say Lebron's does.

One game does not make a career. The problem with sports today is everything is the greatest ever. This guy, this team, this coach. Lebron is good but hasn't proven anything yet. Remember he scored all these points in OT on dunks where there was 0 help D. It looked like Wayne Morgan's Clones trying to guard Maric.

My guess is Pistons step it up and win the next to. Cavs make a move or two and are playing for the championship in 2 years. By it doesn't really matter if the Pistons/Cavs make it b/c they both won't last more than 6 against the Spurs

Of course teams will play D differently against Kobe than they would LeBron... With LeBron you always have to worry about the pass, he recognizes the double and triple better than most and finds the open guy right away... With Kobe you can send four guys at him and still feel confident the one remaining guy can cover the other four because Kobe will just launch it rather then pass for an easy layup...

True, if Kobe had guys like Ilgauskas, Varejao, and Hughes on the Lakers they'd be winning titles every year. :rolleyes5cz:

I didn't see the game. Did they put the rest of the Cav's players on the bench? Was it five on one?

Kobe already has the equivalent of Ilgauskas, Varejao and Hughes on his team and they can't get out of the first round. LeBron makes people better. Bryant doesn't.

Re: Labron James

That's laugh out loud funny.

Any NBA person would take James over all you mentioned except Duncan.

Your love for Kobe is a hoot. Kobe has proved he's nothing without Shaq. His killer instinct is good for nothing but meaningless 50 point games and first round playoff exits.

And all you can do is blame Kobe's teammates.

Get back to me when Kobe makes a conference finals or wins something.

I don't want to be argumentative, but, even as a Spurs fan, I have to take Steve Nash. The man makes good players great, and mediocre players good. In my opinion, he is the most dominating player in the league, because he can beat you without scoring, the only other player that can do that is Jason Kidd, and Nash is a much better shooter.

I love Lebron, and he scares me more with a worse team than the Pistons do in the finals, but I still haven't seen him make anyone else better. In fact, I think that he could have a good thing with Gooden, but they are so Lebron focused, that Gooden gets no shots.

I think that the comparisons to Kobe aren't far off because if you put the Cavs in the West, they are a 6-7 seed, and out in the first round. Conversely, the Lakers in the East, using the great player theory, I could see them as the conference rep in the finals.

I would argue that Cleveland's supporting cast really isn't that much better than the Lakers. Yet LeBron has the Cavs one game from the Finals, and Kobe is at home watching LeBron play. Sure, Kobe has more rings, but Kobe also opened up his mouth saying that he was the man, the reason why the Lakers won 3 championships, and ran Shaq out of town. Since that day? Shaq 1 championship, Kobe 0. Not only that, but the Lakers have gotten progressively worse each season since. The Lakers were lucky to make the playoffs this year. Now Kobe says he wants out (or wants to stay, not sure he'll make up his mind) because he thinks the Lakers don't have the talent. LeBron? He just keeps playing and winning.

I agreed with most of your post except for that. Did you miss the tough fadeaway jumpers he was hitting in clutch spots? The three pointer that tied it? The behind the back move at the top of the key?

You think maybe the Pistons were tired in the second OT and LeBron was just better than them at that point?

Kobe is better than LeBron, but don't try to diminish what he did last night. Last night was something special.

...

Just imagine if they could have Boozer instead of Boozer Lite (Gooden)...

They had it all set up until the Jazz decided he was worth more than the Cavs figured on, now they are seeing a mature Boozer ripping up the West (granted he was overmatched in the Spurs games - but he has improved more than anyone in the last three years, its incredible).

Yes. That particular play is called "isolation."

There was one point last night when it all could have come crashing down - when Lebron airballed the shot in the first OT and the Pistons came back to tie - it never shouldve gone to 2OT the Cavs were up 5 with a minute to go.

But they won, so everybody forgets the airball.

Oh, and don't mistake this for Kobe love - he's an ***, and deserves to waste away friendless and alone.

One thing LeBron needs to improve if he wants to truly become a closer is his free throw shooting. He missed quite a few in the 4th quarter that would have had everyone all over him had they lost the game in regulation.

That's absolutely correct.

I think the James v. Bryant argument is really tought to pin down who is right and wrong. My perspective is colored by Bryant's skating on the rape accusation. I hate that.

Also, the anti Lebron crowd doesn't appreciate two Eastern conference finals at age 21. Much better than Michael at that age.

Kobe has never had an accomplishment like James' ON HIS OWN. He's done more than LeBron, as Shaq's sidekick.

I think with Kobe, people fall in love with the offense and don't care about Wins, championships, teamwork, etc.

I am not a Lebron hater, i think he is a great player and the sky is the limit on what he can accomplish. Yet, at this time i think Kobe is the better player, regardless of supporting cast or who makes his teammates look better.
