if only because of how much you guys hyped him.

Did you miss that part. This in essence means that if I hadn't come here, or read all the stuff you guys said about him, I would not have been disappointed.

Royce still has a lot of work to meet the build up YOU guys gave him. He is already a very good player, but he isn't an NBA All-Star yet. He needs a jumpshot or postgame first.

Find a post from someone that's claiming he is.

Personally, I wasn't all that impressed with Jeremy Lamb and Andre Drummond last night, but UCONN fans hyped them up as lottery picks. I didn't see anything special out of them.

Man, I'd hate to think how bad we would've blown out UCONN if our players had played up to your expectations.

They were expectations built on ISU fans' hype. It would have been about 35-40. You guys made Royce out to be Lebron and Babb to be Pippen. Neither are, they are both still very good.

Honestly, Royce did less damage than your 3PT shooters.

They are lottery picks. Now we can argue all night long on whether they will be good NBA players, but lottery picks they are (or will be). Unfortunately, NBA drafting is based more on potential than on production.

They played the same as all year. Very talented/athletic but very inconsistent and in Drummond's case (as I think I stated a few times) no big man fundamentals.

hence why we're a 3-point team that runs a 1-4 instead of the post-up game?

............................................................

I know, and that is what every UConn fan was scared of coming into the game, though I kept seeing everyone hyping up Royce. As I stated before the game, I would have much preferred Royce get dunk after dunk than ISU's 3PT shooters go off like they did in the first 10 minutes.

As to the open 3's you missed, ISU's players also hit some absurd 2PTers in the second half. I mean that "teardrop" bank was just a crazy shot. Much respect for even taking it let alone making it.

Pundits are hyping him now. I dare you to find a single person that said he could shoot. We are well aware of his weaknesses.

I'm just not sure why you'd be here (weakly) trash-talking after the game, especially after losing?

Royce doesn't hog the ball like many stud players.

Yeah Bubu hit a couple really tough floaters that were "bonus points." Made up for one of the wide open 3's we usually hit.

Good work with the classy posts, you are welcome to post here.

Royce won't do that though. He's almost unselfish to a fault. The shots he took last night were all in control, very high percentage shots. Royce isn't a typical star player that just tries to take over the game by scoring a ton. He hurts you by making every other player on the floor better by putting them in positions to succeed.

Please read the whole post before responding.

Congrats on the win. ISU had a great gameplan coming in, executed it to perfection and UConn did not.

First, Royce White. I was a tad disappointed in his game, if only because of how much you guys hyped him. He is a tremendous rebounder and handles the ball very well. I was surprised that Roscoe did so well on him and disappointed that JC and UConn didn't figure that out earlier and stick with it later. His speed was impressive, but Roscoe* was able to stay with him, which helped bring UConn back in the first half and early in the second. JMO but Royce needs to be able to take a stick like Roscoe into the low block and abuse him to be a truly great player. He did that to Giffey once in the second half, but never even tried to do it to Roscoe, which perplexed me. Oh, he could also work on his jumper, being picky. If he can do either of those he could be a future all-star.

Second, Babb. I have similar impressions of him that I had of Royce White. I was expecting something much better than what he gave with all the hype you all give him. He is a very solid player and a plus defender but he got a ton of help from his teammates to "shutdown" Lamb. The gameplan was great to help on the off the ball movement and when Lamb beat him have a second or third man slide over to clog the lane. Babb himself wasn't that amazing, the team effort was. I say this because UConn has had guys who could literally shut down a player by themselves and Babb is not that. He is very solid though. As much flak Lamb is getting for that dunk (which was really annoying to watch as a UConn fan) attempt, Lamb was 5-13 for 19 points in the game, which really isn't that bad in terms of PPS.

Overall, ISU outhustled UConn and shot the ball extremely well before UConn figured things out, then made some rather tough shots to pull it out. Very good game by ISU and I wish you the best the rest of this year (until UConn plays ISU again). Love the Mayor as a coach, excellent game planning.

*I really thought Roscoe would get abused in the post if he defended Royce. Kudos to your fan (on here) who said Roscoe would defend Royce better than Drummond or Oriakhi.

If you were expecting from our posts for him to be an individual superstar, then you were misled. If you were expecting that he is a winner, and does everything that it takes to make his team win, and that we love him for it, you would be right.
