Where they love the governor
Yeah, its all like, "im going to show you how to make some nice artisan bread", and then WHAMMY Bobby Flay shows up and and power bombs you through a table.

Except Bobby Flay would be all like "Hey, I know you are the best at making atrisan bread, but I'm going to add a Southwest twist to it by adding ground chipotle peppers" and thereby ruin the bread.

Can you just use the standard white athletic tape as a direct replacement?

Semi-educated guess here (I'm a PT student), but I would say since the consistency of the tapes is different, it's probably allowable, but not recommended. I've been working with a patient in my clinical lately who we tape up for carpal tunnel syndrome, but the tape only lasts 2-3 days for him, so he switches over to duct tape. The muscle effect might still be happening, but I'd be more worried about skin irritation in that case, haha.

It worked well for me. Tore a groin muscle this fall. I had a huge, nasty bruise covering basically all of my inner thigh, very ugly and painful. That tape really helped to work out the bruise, it actually pushed it down my leg to the point where the taping stopped. By the time I got into PT I think I was already on the upswing but I do think the tape accelerated the healing process.

Your lucky you didn't tear your ball sack when pulling the tape off. Did you pull it off slowly or quickly?

Don't bruises tend to travel downward anyway? I beat the hell out of my lower leg/ankle area, but the blood is all sitting in the bottom of my foot.

I think you're right. I have always been told that bruises tend to follow gravity.

I had a conversation with the head athletic trainer this fall where I played football in college. They were giving my son a tour of the training room and taping his ankles for fun. I asked her about Kinesio tape since you see it in a lot of places. Her thoughts were that it was more of a placebo affect as others have stated. They have tried it and as others have said the tape lost it's stretch about 20-30 minutes into practice/workouts. She wasn't 100% sure if it did or didn't work but her thoughts were in the testing they have done with it that there doesn't appear to be any benefit. She also said in her 25 years of being a full time AT she has seen things like this come and go a lot.

The fact that a lot of chiropractor's are now adding this to their list of services makes me very skeptical of its effectiveness as well. Just my opinion.

I see far more women tennis players use it than men. I always assumed it was a fashion statement, plus a ready-made excuse for losing, like "see, I'm hurt," but maybe that says more about the current state of the WTA than anything. Come to think about, I guess I remember Djokovic using it back in the day when he called the trainer during every match he was losing.

He had me shave the area beforehand. Luckily the tape didn't quite reach the sack. Still ripped out a few hairs that I missed.

I think you might be right. I just know it seemed to accelerate the process of clearing up the bruising, and it looked like it pushed the bruise out to the edge of the taping (Which went from groing almost down to the knee). The shock therapy on the muscle tissue seemed to help out quite a bit too so its hard to say what was attributable to the tape or the other therapy or just natural healing.

acts as an additional ligmaent or tendon, providing more support.

Not arguing with you specifically but this is bogus. You don't need tendons or fake ones to support the outer layer of skin. There is no research that this stuff does ANYTHING. It is MonaVie athletic tape.

A lot of people had tried the kinesiotape and they say that it is really effective and explained how does it work. Other people also says that it is not effective maybe they used the imitation tape. But I believe that it is really effective. :spinny:

Dwight Howard is wearing a body suit for his shoulders that essentially amounts to support for his upper body. It is similar in theory.
