I think the song is so, so. But the message I think is good. I remember my HS football days fondly, I do not re-live them every Friday night but at times like this I do think about the friends I had and how we were willing to do anything for one another.

To me it is like looking back on my military days - same thing, I really have some great memories.

The lesson in here is do everything to the best, the VERY BEST, of your abilities so at the end of the day there are no regrets. That lesson is the one I have tried to drill into the minds of everyone I ave ever coached as well as my children.

There are a lot of math club, band, and debate members on this post who never experienced athletic success, or failure, that are showing thier jealousy and hatred. Relax. If you don't like the song or never experienced what Kenny is singing about just click your mouse and move along. No need to looks so little and ugly quite frankly. Grow up.

Hmmm, I played sports. I experienced athletic success and failure. Yet, I find the song repulsive. Not as repulsive as a person who believes that jealousy and hatred fuel other's dislike for the song, but repulsive none the less.

Sounds like somebody:

A) Can't get over the fact that they are not in high school anymore

B) Doesn't like their boss because of the superior academic success it takes to be the boss.

This is what gets me. I can appreciate someone having fond memories of high school athletics, I know I do. It's this nostaglic "remember when I was the man" stuff I've heard of some people in response to this song that drives me crazy. I do remember when you were a good football player, but anymore I know you as the guy that never grew up and is working part time at Jimmy Johns.

I scored 4 touchdowns in a single game for Polk High, and had many offers to Junior Colleges and could of made something of my life.

I loved it. I have great memories of high school football, great memories of college football, and now coach high school football and have great memories of that. I don't see anything wrong with reliving the glory days. I love where my life is right now too, but it is fun to relive a simpler time watching videos like this one. I love what the future has in store, but I'm sorry for those of you that can't look back on the past with fond memories

Ha this is going to turn into people who played football in high school versus people who didnt. Which is exactly what CloneFan32 is talking about. Good video brings me back to the days where my high school got blown out by seven touchdowns every friday night!!!

Hey, I wasn't the one who pigeon-holed and entire group of people.

Enjoy reliving you glory days. Sounds like it may be all you have left. Sad, really.

So let me get this straight. Not only am I not able to enjoy my new Olive Garden, but it's also uncool to re-live the glory days? This board is a downer. I think I'll be ok though.

Not sure where you get that idea, I played football in high school. I had a blast playing football, I have fond memories of wins and not so fond memories of losses. I enojoyed the time with friends, loved the commrodary involved, sustained a few minor injuries, and typically went out and got drunk after games. I did just about everything involved in this song and still find it pathetic for a 40-something singer to lament about his high school glory days in a song meant to encourage other 40-something's to lament about their high school glory days.

Kenny Chesney/Boys of Fall vid....

Seen it? I saw it a second time....and all I can think is "Where is the footage of Coach Rhoads after the Nebraska win?" An Applington/Parkersburg nod would have been nice too.
Timed perfectly and corporately canned for consumption, it is still pretty good song writing and the video is heavy on the Manning/Tennessee/ Southeast Conference stuff. I like most of it....except Namath giving me life lessons.
Check it out.

Couldn't agree more. Coming from someone who, way back when, put pads on in a small Iowa town this song really hits home.

No, he's saying don't pigeonhole an entire groupd of people just because you don't like the song.

I was in band in high school. I also wrestled and played football and remember all three fondly. I also hate country music and think over-glorifying the "glory days" is cheap and corny so you can guess what I think of the song.

Just don't call me a geek because this song doesn't make me wish I was in high school again.

PS My highschool was full of dogs and I ended up dating girls from other highschools because of it. So that may have something to do with me not missing HS.

i think its a great video, not a great song, but certainly gives you that inner drive to play football again.

actually, its more sad than anything.

Ugh. I love country music and Kenny, but that is just painful. Randall 'Pink' Floyd from Dazed and Confused said it best, "If these are the best days of my life, remind me to kill myself."

That song just reminds me of brunt out guys, still living in their home town, always talking about the glory days. A.K.A This Guy.
