Kansas to Pac 10 if A&M doesn't accept?

The Pac-10 is at 11. If they take TT, UT, OU, OSU they are at 15. I guess they have no interest in Utah? Do they already get that market with the teams they have (seems unlikely)?

Would there be pressure for KU and KSU to stick together if an option like the Big East was on the table?

KU would take a Big 10 or Pac 10 invite if offered. I don't think they'd like abandoning KSU, but that at least keeps their state from having both major programs go from BCS to mid-major conference. Still, I don't think either one offers them a spot. They and KSU will end up in MWC or Big East, as things look now.

ISU needs the remaining core badly. It will be on a geographic island regardless, but having KU, KSU, and MU will at least preserve some semblance of old Big 8 tradition along with decent travel distances to some conference games.

Exactly, that's why I don't understand why people are mad at Nebraska....

There's people here in NE who don't like the deal either (travel, tradition, blahblahblah...). But they'd be the minority I think, like those of us who are ISU fans. I blame UNL, UT, CU, MU and to a lesser extent the ISU admin for putting their heads in the sand for too long. Can't blame UNL and CU for taking stability and money over the cluster the Big XII has become the last few months. Just hoping Pollard pulls something good out of his ***** on this one as far as conference affiliations. Something in the class of bringing back the Mayor or hiring CPR would be nice.

I'm mad at Texas and the attorneys involved in the formation of the Big 12 as I think they put in place bylaws that made the conference destined to fail:

- Big 12 forms in 1995. Rule changes require a super-majority of 9 votes.

- Big 12 North fans eventually grow tired of watching their teams get their collective butts whipped on TV by the South schools and not getting to watch many other games on TV.

- Colorado and Mizzou start talking about moving to the Pac 10 and Big 10... again.. (it seems like only yesterday).

- Big 10 commissioner announces plans to expand.

- Nebraska sees the writing on the wall for the Big 12 and gets in touch with Big 10.

- Colorado jumps to the Pac 10. And now the dominoes are starting to fall more quickly.

Remember that Colorado and Nebraska were on top of the college football world when the Big 12 was formed. It's no coincidence that they are the first ones to jump ship now.

How do you know? Do you know who JP and GG are talking to behind closed doors? And if they are talking to other conferences, they DO NOT have to come out in public and say.

Amen. I wouldn't think they'd give up 25% of their budget in a year or two without trying to get something else going. They may not have been proactive before things started unravelling, but they can't be sitting on their hands now. I think that's BeeBee's job. They didn't exactly come out with the Hoiberg or Rhoads decision processes until they were done deals.

What do you want from the a daily recap of everything they did? Would like transcripts of all their phone calls, copies of e-mails, a daily presser? Stop making assumptions, unless you are privy to the situation, you really don't know what's going on.

Don't forget the bullet point that UT refused at the conference meetings to give all broadcast rights to the league in exchange for UNL remaining loyal to the Big XII. It was cited today at the UNL regents meeting to vote on leaving the Big XII. UNL is certainly partially to blame, but UT and their greed for more money is at the start of the line.

I don't see KU going to the pac16; I think its either TAM or if they won't go, its Utah.

Agree. Travel and two time zones away. They would rather play the Big East teams. Pac 16 basketball would be so-so. Kansas opens up the footprint for the Big East.

We are not in a position to be as proactive as you might think. We kind of have to let things settle and then make our pitch. Don't worry. Calls have been made. Options are on the table. We might not like all of them. But they might not be as bad as you think. At the very least, I think we are Mountain West. But the Mountain West might not be as desirable with the loss of Utah to the Pac whatever.

I am hopeful for the Big East. I think we bring a fair amount to the table for them. Especially when combined with Kansas, K-State, and Mizzou. They have AQ status and us four schools in combination would do a lot to improve their footprint and football resume. The Big East has to be very afraid of the Big Ten and SEC choking them off. A TV network would be the thing. And if you get multiple conference networks going there is increased competition. Does the Big Ten network stay on the basic tier and the Big Ten get 88 cents per month from every cable subscriber anymore?

The Pac 11 is going places, but Kansas will never be able to compete in football. They would be stuck with Texas, OU, Texas Tech, ASU, AU, Ok State and Colorado. They would be anywhere between 6th and 8th in their division. What do they gain from this in basketball? The Pac 10 is weak conference in basketball, barely got two teams to the NCAA tourney. Going to the Pac 10 hurts their RPI because the conference just isn't that strong. As for other sports - Kansas would suffer in the non-revenue sports as well. I guess if the money is better than always being mediocre, then you take it.

KU would be fools to do this.

Pollard has a few options out there in my opinion. He's just waiting for things to play out at this point. The options might be far from ideal, but there are probably some things in place depending on who remains left. If JP does not have some contingency plans in place, then ISU will definitely be screwed. I do think that JP and Dr. Geoffrey are going to put us in a good spot.

Best possible strategy IMO is to form an agreement (and NOW) with KU, KSU and MU to market ourselves as a package. A wait and see approach on the smoldering ruins of the Big 12 is not an option. You can always fall back on that as a last resort if other things don't develop.

They would be a fool but MONEY talks. I think NE going to the Big Ten is foolish as they will not be the power in their division that they are now, but MONEY talked and they walked (ran).

I agree. I think Nebraska will eventually regret making this move. Maybe not financially, but competitively. I thought the same thing about Missouri joining the Big 10 as well.

Where will Nebraska go to recruit now? Kids from Texas won't want to go there anymore. I don't think they can beat out Ohio St and Penn St out east for recruits either?

As for KU... going to the Pac 10 makes no sense for them IMO over the Big East... NONE. The Pac 10 stinks for basketball... and there is no way they can compete in football. KU would be in the same division with Texas, Oklahoma, Okie St, and TT. They can't beat any of those teams. Good luck to ya!

Worse case is KU to P10/11 and MO to B10/11/12

Baylor us and KSU to MWC in that scenario I guess. Could even be a Conf USA deal
