Try and hit up The Peanut one day for Lunch... easy bar food (kind of DT). Great Wings.

If do go to a casino - sign up for a players card and use it. (I would suggest Harrah’s - if you go to Vegas this fall for the Game it will help on your room rates that weekend).

Yeah, someone mentioned that it was more on the expensive side. I disagree. Unless their prices have changed, it was pretty decent. It's not hickory park prices, but it's not crazy at all. 10-20 dollars for an entree if I recall correctly. That's pretty reasonable, and quite a value considering how good the food is.
I just looked at their menu and pretty much everything is still in that price range. That seems very reasonable to me.

Kelly's Bar at Westport, always an old faithful bar.
Kind of a Dive Bar.
Joe's Pizza is right next door, and sells slice's through a window into the Bar.
Has a Rooftop too....
-and a CyRide sign at the Bar.....lol.

That's wild, do you know the story on how the CyRide sign got there?

Heard a Rumor-
After ISU (Fizer, Tinsley) won the Big12 Tourney. It was a madhouse.
Crazy busy, So when Larry Eustacy showed up, He hopped around the backside of the bar, and started Bartending, as it was so busy.
something, something, about "Since Every Cyclone stops at Kelly's for Drinks!!, they might as well put a CyRide stop at the front door"
The following year, some co-eds brought a stolen CyRide Sign.

It has more than just a CyRide sign now. I know a Walking Cy flag hangs above an area where there used to be a basketball arcade game. Kellys has large alumni watch parties and pep rallies.

Also if you're in the Westport area go to Daves Stage Coach. Solid Bar with cheap drinks.

Kelly's is always a blast they should have ISU mugs there you can get. They have a decent upstairs patio. Westport Ale house and Mickey's hideaway (right across from Kellys) have nice patios in Westport.

Chicken & pickle should be close to where you are staying if you are north of downtown.

Before hitting up P&L a little bar to get some cheap drinks that is a great dive bar is Zoo bar. Get the mini beer shot.

Have they cleaned up Westport yet?

Last I heard - it was pretty rough down there.

But... I haven’t been there in the last 7 years or so.

It's nothing fancy but I wouldn't call it "rough" in any way based on my experiences. Much more character than the bars in the P&L. I have only been there during the Big 12 Tourney.

Testifying
Westport area is better than it used to be.
I like the Alehouse roof, Hopcat is good, McCoys closed down, Kelly's is great.

I should clarify. It's not expensive in terms of overall food/dining, but it's expensive when you look at overall BBQ in my opinion. I think I can get a lot better in KC for cheaper. You are paying for the nice sit down experience. The BBQ is good. Jack Stack is similar prices, but without the quality.

Boulevard tour is fun. Or just going there and tasting all of their beers including their experimental beers. And they have a rooftop patio.

If you're into hoops - go to the College Basketball Experience right next to the Sprint/T-Mobile Center. Super fun. You can literally just play hoops in there with your buddies on a nice court and hoops. There are a bunch of fun basketball things/drills to do in there as well. Go there right away in the morning on a weekend or toward closing so you avoid any fieldtrips/kids. It's really cheap too from what I recall.

Just go home at 3am and you’ll be fine in Westport

This was one of the things we were really looking forward to but it looks like it is still closed down. Hopefully that changes before we go.

We are heading down this weekend for the bachelor party. Anyone in KC familiar with the current Covid guidelines and whether any bars are open or closed?

Have a son in KC. He thinks capacity limits just ended in the last few days but masks and distancing still required. He’s not positive, his main activities are golf and basketball and picking up bbq, but thinks he heard that on radio lol
