He gets 5 years in jail if convicted of this DUI so this kills any of the last tiny hopes remaining that he could play in the NFL again.

If the Vikes don't draft Blackmon: They are idiots. I've been reading up alot of him, Kalil and Claiborne. You can't miss with Blackmon. I understand they have alot of spots they need to fill(You don't need to tell me that) but you just can't miss on Blackmon. The Vikes don't have a deep threat at WR and probably won't get one through FA either. They just signed Simpson(WHO!?) Pretty much a no namer. We can find an OL or CB in the 2nd or 3rd round. I'm not worried about that. I'm worried about something we havn't had since Rice in 2009 and I think Favre made him look good. Randy Moss was our last true WR.

What's actually shocking is that of the 3 guys he discussed, Kalil has somehow been the best.

Five years huh? Yeah let's just make sure this guy's career is totally ruined. I'm sure that will help him overcome his problems.

From the article:
This is Blackmon's third alcohol-related arrest and fourth arrest overall.

The former Oklahoma State standout was also arrested July 23, 2014, when Edmond (Oklahoma) Police Department officers stopped him for a traffic violation and said they could smell marijuana coming from his car. He pleaded no contest to misdemeanor marijuana possession, a charge that was later reduced to disorderly conduct for which he had to play a $454 fine.
Blackmon's attorney said Blackmon completed a voluntary drug-rehab program in 2014.
Blackmon, 25, also was arrested in Texas in 2010 on a misdemeanor DUI charge (later reduced to underage alcohol possession) after police officers caught him speeding outside of Dallas. He was arrested again in May 2012 -- less than a month after the Jaguars drafted him -- during a traffic stop in Stillwater, Oklahoma, after a breath test allegedly showed his blood alcohol content to be three times the legal limit.
***********************************************
I'm all for intervention and helping people beat problems, but really - it's not like he hasn't been given chances (and help - the article said he had been through a substance abuse program). He has killed his career all by himself...your sympathy is misplaced.

Who ******* cares about his playing career? The bottom line is he is putting lives in danger when he makes the choice to drink and drive.

I bet a majority of people on this message board have driven drunk before (whether they admit it or not). Its kinda inevitable when you live in a rural state. Unfortunately, I've done it multiple times.

Incarcerating people isn't going to stop drunk driving.

Apparently letting him off with warnings & fines hasn't stopped it either.
