Just what is our program becoming known for?

Our program is known as one with a classy coach who gives some kids a 2nd chance to turn their lives around. It is known as a program with quality kids who play their heart out. Just to answer your question.

The kinds of relatively minor legal issues that have cropped up under FH's tenure have been handled very appropriately, and ISU has a reputation as a solid and clean program. Anything else you'd like to know, Hawkeye?

lol. You think anyone outside our fan base thinks that? 99% of fans don't have a clue about the background of these guys, they do however see stories like the one linked.

Why? usually what happens when you get booked. At least it was when I got a public intox in Iowa City 16 years ago for asking an officer a question on my 21st birthday.
I don't think they usually make you wear a jumpsuit in the drunk tank. Could be wrong. I don't think any of my friends have.

Too many alcohol related incidents. This needs to be balanced out with more assault and theft related issues so Hawk fans have something to talk about.

You still haven't answered the "and then what?" Question- probably because you are a concern troll.

Just because I dislike our players getting arrested I am a hawk fan? I thought Hawk fans like their players getting arrested? Obviously the solution is to recruit players who are also solid citizens, even if it lowers the quality a bit. Other schools seem to be able to. I guess I am not going to speak for everyone but he reputation of my alma mater is a little more important to me than a few basketball wins.
No, it's because it doesn't look like you've said a nice thing about Iowa State/ the state of Iowa since you got here.

Yes, definitely bad press for ISU, but there's not really even a story here. Why should the actions of former players have anything to do with the current program? Hogue and Jackson never got in any trouble when they were actually on the team. Who cares what they do after they're gone? It has no bearing on the current roster. And as everyone knows, BDJ's charges were dropped almost immediately. So that leaves you with two guys currently on the roster who got in trouble last off-season. There is no story here!

And I don't think that 99% of fans give a **** if two former players were arrested.

And if you want to stop supporting the team, go ahead. Plenty of people will be lined up to take any tickets that you forfeit.

The answer is that our program is known for giving fans plenty of need for wearing a cup at all times.

Seeing as you have already made up your mind I won't bother to link the hundreds of stories from the past few seasons about what Hoiberg has done building this program and how he has done it. I am sure the half dozen or so negative articles in the last two weeks have done way more to sway the national perception of the program than the previous 5 years...

I really don't care what players do with their personal life after their time at ISU. BDJs charges were dropped. This article is as pointless as this thread. I like that Hoiberg takes risks in recruiting, we're obviously not getting burger boys anytime soon and he's going to do whatever he has to do to compete with the blue bloods or good programs. I enjoy watching ISU win Big12 tourneys and consistently make the NCAA tournament.

I'm not sure why this weeks events even caused any fans to get worked up. Dustin was in a parked car with a level that isn't exactly crazy high. He got what he deserved and has to face the consequences.

Definitely not good for recruiting, especially making the pitch to parents, and something other schools will use against the program. I posted on here after Matt's and Abdel's charges last year that I was concerned about the culture in the basketball team. Naturally, I got shot down for even suggesting anything like that.

Didn't mean this instance, just an overall program theme. There is a reason these were being suggested for a while.

My periodic "Cyclone fans are p*****s" comment seems to apply to this thread. Do people constantly look for reasons to be angry/upset? Mind blowing.

*Not all of them but WAY too many.

They actually put you in an orange jumpsuit for a public intox, in which you were probably in the cell for a few hours?!
Seems odd. I always just thought if you got a public intox they just tossed you inside the drunk tank until you were sober enough to go home. (wearing the same clothes you had on when you got there)

It's not always so damn black and white.

For all of the bad things that have happened, you can also point to a lot of great things that the players have done. I think most parents are smart enough to realize that.

I guess someone didn't like the previous title? As I said I am certainly happy with what we have accomplished on court the last few years but at what point does the off court stuff overshadow that? Frankly I find it embarrassing one third of our team has worn an orange jumpsuit the last year.

Orange is the new cardinal?

I'm sure it's because they are stuck in this crappy state, no one with a choice, wants to live in.
