With the obvious need of JUCO D-Line players 4 guys have stood out for me when looking at offers. Andrew Van Ginkel, Ray Lima, Matt Leo, and Kamilo Tongamoa. What is the probability of each of those guys committing to the good guys?

I dont think next years D-line will be as bad as some people think. Sure losing 7 senior guys will hurt, but we got at least three juniors that could take starting positions next year, and around 6 DL in the 2016 class. Now that being said we can never have enough talent in the trenches, so picking up a Juco lineman or two is probably a good idea. Picking up a grad player sound like an even better idea.

We still need a few guys that will be able to step in and play right away...for depth more than anything.

I could probably cut off two of my fingers, and still count on one hand the number of grad transfer DLinemen next year.

In other threads, they are talking about commits having possibly more than 3 stars. Why dont you just hold off on cutting off any fingers. Might need more than 3.

Agreed, but more importantly practice holding a beer can for 5 minutes and then decide if quality of life issues don't change your mind!!!!

Which hand did you cut the fingers off of? The one you are counting with or the other one? A friend wants to know...

Using the 3 finger hand or the 5 finger hand?

Lol. After I typed that out, I knew someone would point (no pun intended) that out. I left it though, so I could have a fail safe if someome actually counted and it was closer to five.

Is there any targets on juco O-linemen that can play in 2016? Even with this staffs potential to develop players I would feel better if we had more players in those positions.

I'd probably cut off my pinky and ring finger if I had to choose 2 fingers to part with.

I'm hoping we can land Tongamoa. He could start next year, or be a very solid backup at the least.

Another possibility. IMO, we would like to take 2 Juco DT's to round out this class. Take any of the 3 guys mentioned.

Yeah, I know we need players who can play right away next year. I was pointing out that despite all the players leaving we still wouldn't be in a horrible situation on the defensive line. I would really like to pick up an experienced player that could be a playmaker on the Defensive Line. IMO there should be 3 HS players, 2 D-linemen that is a transfer, JUCO, or Grad player. I believe that in the 2016 class, we got two JUCo DL players that will hopefully play this year and next.

I am in this boat as well. I think we're in good shape at D-End, but definitely need a JUCO or two on the interior. Here is what we will have returning on the entire D-Line (scholarship players) in 2017 (listed with what their class will be in 2017). This of course, does not factor in potential attrition, or 2017 recruits who will likely be redshirting (unless JUCO interior guys).

DE
Sam Seonbuchner RS-Jr 6'2 240
J.D. Waggoner RS-Sr 6'3 255
Josh Coleman RS-So 6'2 250------> I think he has the potential to slide inside, if he gets to 270-275 range by 2017.
Seth Nerness RS-So 6'4 240
JaQuan Bailey RS-Fr 6'3 245------> With potential to slide inside, assuming he'll be bigger than his recruited weight.
Joshua Mueller RS-Fr 6'6 260------> 247 lists him as Strongside DE, but I think i remember him being recruited as on Offensive Tackle? If not, he's already 260, so has potential to slide inside.
Eyioma Uwazurike RS-Fr 6'6 254------> Assuming he makes it to campus, he's already big.
Justin Stewart Sr 6'3 235

DT
Robby Garcia RS-Sr 6'4 285
Vernell Trent RS-Sr 6'3 275
Joshua Bailey RS-Fr 6'3 260
Jamahl Johnson RS-Fr 6'1 305

Obviously this is speculation, but there could be some younger guys eventually moved inside....DE looks pretty solid, while DT needs at least 1 interior guy, ideally two from the JUCO ranks.
