OH man....now you are opening a can of worms!!

Actually, anything to do with the RV Village is what I am enjoying selfishly.

A good picture of the driving lanes between the RV sections would be great and then just progress pictures of the actual parking spots as they "pretty" them up. THANK YOU!!!

Here are some pics of the driving lanes that run east/west. The one I measured is 22 feet from concrete to concrete straight across the lane.

Here are some pics of the spots on the south end. Last week, they did work on the dirt and grass seed.

The drive lanes looked narrower in the first pictures. In the recent pics they look to be plenty wide for backing in. Thanks again for the photos!!

Imo, soccer really has to be played on grass.
Football should be played on grass.
Baseball should be played on grass.
The best tennis is played on grass.
Just about any field sport should be played on grass.

The tough thing is, of course, the upkeep. Sometimes in some circumstances, other surfaces have to be chosen.

Grass is awesome for sports. Sometimes it can be rolled up and smoked, too....:jimlad::jimlad:

Another feature on the new turf:

Glad to hear that they are growing the same product for the practice fields and that they will be going natural on the soccer field next year.

I know they really wanted the soccer field to be grass to start with but having the track open to the public they felt it had to be artificial. Will the facility still be open to the public?

Collegiate or professionally, I agree. If the field can get proper maintenance and not have excessive wear, it's the way to go. But I'm probably on the other side of this argument on a youth soccer level. I've seen too many games played on poorly maintained grass fields. Passes bouncing over feet, ankles turned on divots, goals on balls that take a mysterious hop over a keeper, etc. IMO, there are more benefits to field turf for soccer at a youth level.

- The main one: With the growth of the sport, there aren't enough quality grass fields for younger kids. That's not saying there can't be, but the maintenance isn't going to be able to keep up with the demand for space for games and practices.

- Weather. A hard rain can render frequently used fields unusable. You might be able to play one game, but it will get progressively worse and dangerous if you're trying to play several games on it during a weekend

- Skills/footwork/passing/receiving are all easier to teach and practice with true rolls and bounces.

I agree with your points, but the best soccer countries and players have historically played as youths on fairly poor fields.

Truly a 21st century consideration and a major monetary consideration. I assume a youth club that has lots of artificial turf fields cost parents an arm and a leg.

Also, still on track to put up the bridge spans the week of June 27, per City of Ames documents:

Henkel, the prime contractor for ISU, is planning to fully close University Boulevard from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM beginning Monday, June 27 through Saturday, July 2 (four nights in a six-day period). The University Blvd. closure will take place between South 4th Street and South 16th Street. During those six days, there will be partial closures next to the median underneath the bridge for Henkel to assemble the bridge’s structural members.
