Yeah because the comparison is so damn solid. I mean, how could the next couple years NOT mean anything when comparing an NFL team who has a **** ton of talent and the ability to draft in a given spot each year along with free agency and money to spend to a college team with average talent who has no claim to a certain amount of recruits. How could that NOT be accurate?

John Fox to ISU??

Honestly.. John Fox is a good Head Coach. He is not the reason the Broncos "under performed" (I guess)

well maybe if you read the "college to pro league not standing", then yes, you may be right.

One way is a team with lots of success making a change, another is a team with not a lot letting their coach try to find his way. That's were I stopped it and said "let's see".

Yeah, and if my aunt had a **** she'd be my uncle. It's a ridiculous comparison because the two institutions share no common ground outside of what sport they are involved in.

I don't really get this even though I don't think Fox is a very good coach. Don't you give him a shot even if Peyton is done?

Also, the winningest coach over the past four years in each conference got fired. I hate the NFL. Just a bunch of egomaniacs who can't get over themselves. There are just some mind numbingly dumb decisions in that league.

Yeah, I'd take Fox in Chicago...

Agree 100% with the dumb decision thing. I just don't get drafting Manziel...at all. If I were a GM I wouldn't touch that fool with a ten foot pole.

Winston is another good example. He'll go high in the draft and flame out.

Pittsburgh is one of the few teams that seem to respect their employees in the NFL. There are probably others but I'm don't know enough to guess them.

Saw this coming and it needed to happen. The team collapsed the second half of the season and looked poorly coached/prepared. Then you add in yesterday's unacceptable performance and it was time for Fox to go. Fox is a good guy and a good coach and he'll land on his feet. He just laid an egg in the playoffs too many times in Denver.

I know this is a long shot but if Kubiak isn't available, I'd be cool with bringing back Shanahan with his kid as OC

Maybe Shanahan and Elway already have it worked out. It's possible.

Fire the staffs of teams that get you to the second round of the playoffs and you probably develop a reputation as being an organization good coaches may not want to head to, however.

With Peyton aging, the Broncos had a limited window of time. Under Fox, they choked at home in their first playoff game twice and got absolutely embarrassed in a Super Bowl. He had to go.

Kind of remarkable that Denver was able to conceal both the severity of Manning's injury and the disconnect between Fox and Elway right up until the final game of the season. Usually stuff like that leaks out pretty quickly.

It's too bad for John Fox; I think he's a solid head coach. He has to be given credit for successfully making wholesale changes to his offense in the middle of a season twice in his Denver tenure (the Tebow year and then late this season with CJ Anderson). But when you spend like Elway spent last offseason and you have a Hall of Fame QB whose career is winding down, it's Lombardi Trophy or bust.

It'll be really interesting to see where Elway goes from here. I'm guessing we won't know what Manning will do until after his annual neck exam in March, but we'll see. The coaching shakeup might be enough to nudge him towards retirement sooner than later.
