Brooklyn Nets agree to trade with Atlanta Hawks for Joe Johnson, sources say - ESPN New York

Nets and Hawks have agreed to terms that moves Joe Johnson to Brooklyn. The whole deal is contingent on Derron Williams resigning.
Looks like the Hawks got next to nothing in the trade.
Nets receive:
Joe Johnson
Hawks receive:
Jordan Farmar
Johan Petro
Anthony Marrow
Jordan Williams
DeShawn Stevenson
Houston's 2013 1st round pick (lottery protected)

Hawks are back to the cellar. Didn't even manage to get Marshon Brooks.

Takes Nets out of the D12 running.
Who gets him now?

I'm happy for Atlanta that they found someone to take that monster contract off their books.

When did they become New Jersey Nets? Seriously I missed that one like I missed the Miami Marlins at the beggining of this year.

You mean when did they become the Brooklyn Nets? The answer is recently. Next year is the first year under that name.

Could the Nets use Johnson as a piece in a trade with Orlando?

Not a chance... Orlando will be using the Howard trade to dump contracts, not take them on.

More so would be Brooklyn's dream to build their own 'big 3' except they would still suck.

Noone should want that contract. I can't believe the Nets traded for it. He's got 5 years left on it, he's already 31. It wasn't bad trade-wise in terms of players, but the money left on that contract is ridiculous. Seems like a desperation move to get Williams to stay.

You're kidding right? They still have Josh Smith, Al Horford and Jeff Teague is coming of his coming out year as well as recently acquiring the consistent Devin Harris to the mix....I fail to see your logic...

Isn't Josh Smith a FA? Didn't see the Devin Harris acquisition.

chicago does not have the money. Sorry Nets because D-Will and Dwight are going to Dallas. Why does everyone think Joe Johnson is this great player?

I agree, Johnson is really good, he's just not a superstar but I think he's a great #2 or even better #3. A Nets team with Williams, Howard and Johnson is interesting. That's 3 All Stars.

D-Will, Johnson and Gerald Wallace could be a pretty solid team, if Lopez can ever stay healthy. Depth will be a big concern.

The Hawks have to be laughing all the way to the bank on this trade. Joe Johnson is a good player but he possibly has the worst contract in the NBA right now especially with the new progressive luxury tax rules. It's almost as good of a deal as if the Cubs were able to find someone to take all of Soriano's contract. It essentially takes the Nets out of the Howard sweepstakes and they basically need to resign a bulk of their free agents plus probably pay some luxury tax just to stay competitive.

Howard is one of the best post players in the league but he's a very selfish and immature player still. I'm not sure I'd really want to mortgage my franchise's future on a guy that seems more concerned about himself than his team. He seems very selective in where he wants to go and some of the places I'm not really sure if he got traded there he'd put them into contention as his next contract alone is pretty much going to put any team in a position they will not have enough cap room to sign good players to put around him without doing an overhaul on the roster
