I totally get where he is coming from with this. But in all honesty, it was pretty dumb. If it was a twitter troll, then maybe I would give him the OK. But he basically calls out a donor. Do research before bashing someone who's donations, getting/keeping donations are a big part of your job. Can't just be firing shots whenever at anyone on twitter, when you're in the AD position.
But JP invoked the bus. JP is mad.

This guy did send a tweet with Pollard tagged basically saying that he should be fired if this doesn't work out. JP should have thicker skin, but this guy is far from innocent and that's a pretty douchey thing to do.
Its the position he holds at the university. He is held in higher regard than calling out a random fan on social media.

first off jamie is a total d-bag for calling out fans for being skeptical. Just blindly buying in to any new hire is a bad idea, which is clearly the only thing jamie supports. Is it so wrong to be skeptical and wait till we actually play a freaking game before we decide if we are going in the right direction. that being said, stop documenting everything on the internet. Both fans and AD

This all day!

He's not a DB because he changed his position on the hiring. He's a DB because he feels the need to complain about not getting the hire he wanted and saying that the AD's job is in jeopardy for the world to see. As if he knows anything about what Leath judges JP on.

you just described the entire CF community, yourself included

It doesn't really matter if the guys is a DB or not. The AD should be above that crap.

I think there's a pretty significant difference between screaming into the void of nothingness that is CF, which Rhoads, Pollard, etc. would never see, and tweeting @IASTATEAD that Pollard should be fired if the Campbell hire doesn't work out.

Yeah, in that position, I think it's better to just be above the fray. The fact that you were right will stand for itself. I'm a fan of Jamie, but I would just let it go.

This I agree with. Jamie made a great hire, at least it seems so far. On Saturday/Sunday, I did not feel that way. Sure maybe the guy should of been more careful in his response and taken JP's name out of it, but the guy defiantly did not "blast off", and it defiantly did not deserve the response JP gave it. We all know that people have said much worse on Twitter.

JP loves to keep himself in the spotlight, and I'm not saying that is a bad thing at all. However, when you do that, you open yourself up to situations like this, and there are a few ways you can handle it.

Whether he was being a DB or not (he wasn't), JP needs to act like a professional. He's a top-level administrator at a Power 5 university, not a 14 year old girl. Act like it!

yeah not exactly. While I agree a message board is a public forum it lacks one fundamental aspect of tweeting, being able to tweet @ someone specifically. So not really the same thing.

But we can agree to disagree. I like when my ISU officials stand up for my school.

You're kidding yourself if you don't think Jamie looks at CF.

Yeah, I would say the thing that made him more of a dbag is having Jamie in the tweet, which is a lot different than here. If Jamie's on here we don't know it and it isn't possible to tag people. I would say complaining on CF is more like complaining to your extended family at Thanksgiving about the hire. It's technically possible someone would let him know, but not likely. Responding to something he's tagged in on twitter (and I don't use it, but I'm assuming you can untag people who were tagged in a tweet) is more like emailing, calling, or seeing Jamie in the store and telling that to him.

I don't think he should have done it, but like CyFan said, the guy tweeting it was kind of being a ****** too.

Seems to me that this guy and JP deserve each other.

Pollard has a huge ego....that's not news to anybody that's paid attention for the last 10 years. It has often been good/great for ISU and is the reason he's had the successes he's had, but times like this are where it rears it's ugly head. Are his thoughts justified? Maybe. Campbell is looking like a good hire right now, but he hasn't accomplished much of anything other than saying the right things. Should he keep those thoughts to himself, or at least keep them out of public forums? Absolutely.

Sniping ISU fans and boosters on twitter for saying they're coming around on the hire makes Pollard look like a petty jack***. I'd like to think the AD of a multi million dollar athletic department could rise above throwing fans off the bandwagon that don't agree with every decision he's ever made.

Here's what I don't get about people on Twitter.

If you make this comment at the water cooler, or to the barstool next to you...whatever it's just a couple people shooting the ****.

On Twitter...especially when you tag the person you're talking about...it's like standing on JPs lawn with a bullhorn talking about how you think he's bad at his job. What do you think is going to happen?

Like it or not, there is not another AD in the country who would have responded to this guy in the manner JP did. So the guy sent a very mild jab Jamie's way. He is a season ticket holder/donor to a program that has won 8 games in 3 years. JP should be down on his knees thanking him. But instead, he gets all ruffly like he does all the time. Jamie needs to stay off Twitter and local radio.

I see this little twitter slap fight has been picked up and re-tweeted by outlets like CoachingSearch.com. I find it ironic that JP's response has made it a bigger deal than it ever should have been. I would rather my AD not spend time on this kind of thing. He gets criticized for everything he does, by someone, probably. What makes this worthy of response? Let it go next time, JP. Teachable moment.

You know what's dumber than a Twitter pissin match? A whole thread discussing it.

Been a few too many threads about twitter bull **** lately on here.

Know what's dumber than that? Coming into the thread to complain about the thread complaining about the twitter thing.

C'mon guys, we can keep this chain going! Someone jump on now and complain about me complaining about the guy complaining about the people complaining about Jamie complaining about the guy who may or may not have been complaining at one point, but is no longer complaining, other than now complaining about Jamie complaining.
