I'd love to see some more play calling where the backs are getting screen passes. I think both could become more explosive with a catch out of the backfield. This could help Jantz out with his timing and keep the defense more honest.

I think, in the most simply put terms. SJ is our back that is crafty, very shifty around blockers/defenders, and very agile to give you yards when you think none are there. JW is the more sit and find the open lane, and when it opens up he will hit it with power and speed. They both are unique in their own right and I am glad to have them as the Cyclone 1-2 punch.

Now if we could only shore up some penalties we may be able to give them a few more TDs as well.

The numbers say differently, but i think James White is the more consistent back than Shontrelle at this point. But, that's likely because of the running style differences. Shontrelle is more shift and juke, and White seems to run a little bit more North/South. I was also impressed with White's breakaway speed.

One question i have is, why hasn't Duran Hollis seen a few carries? I'd like to see what he could do given the chance even though i like the current 1-2 punch.

White has definitely looked faster and more explosive than SJ, but I like the combination of the two.

Shontrelle can make things out of nothing much more than White, however it seems when there is a hole open White is better than Shontrelle. White is crazy fast to the hole and has some speed to get past the secondary.

Way up there
I have no problem with the way the RB carries have been handled so far, both guys have stepped up when they got their chance. I think people forget just how good SJ ran against Iowa, White got the td's but Shontrelle had a much better game.

Duran Hollis had 3 carries for -1 yards vs Texas. I was surprised at the lack of productivity, but it was only a few carries.

After this week I'm jumping to the James White bandwagon. I didn't realize he had another gear when he gets in the open field like that! Plus I'm sick of Shontrelle fumbling.

Exactly, he had two fumbles this game.

I'm more concerned about averaging ZERO points in the first quarter through four games. Much of that is due to turnovers.

I think I've seen Hollis now carry the ball about a dozen times between last night and the Spring game and I'm not sure he has gained more than 1 yd on any carry.

Both SJ and White have been impressive this year. We are using them perfectly IMO. Only negative has been the SJ fumbles so far.

When I said I want to see more and more of James, I did not mean take away from SJ, but use SJ in a different way. I want to see James do more of the prototypical RB duty, and SJ do more screens, sweeps, etc.

Both are great backs and both have their place in this offense. It is very encouraging to see what these guys have done so far this year.

I agree with a lot of this.

It's really, really frustrating that Herman refuses to run screens to the RBs. It's almost like he's unaware that it's an option.

I would like to continue to see more and more of James White. He seems to hit the hole harder than SJ, gets vertical, and gets yards. It seems like he breaks arm tackles a little better too. Anyone else agree?

Also, White had about 80 yards and a touchdown called back on holding penalties last night.

I really like SJ, but he either has to hold onto the ball or he can't play. He is fumbling way too much.
