Likely our easiest remaining game. Win, and we start having serious momentum. Lose, and making a bowl is in serious jeopardy.
Baylor is not good, KU is aweful, TCU is losing players left and right, OU is not themselves on the road and KState comes to our place. Just when you count out Rhoads he surprises you.

I don't think it's that difficult. If some games are "must win", then logically it is implied that there are those that are NOT "must win"--or therefore, losable.

First, the desires of fans are not goals. This fact fatally destroys that contention. Secondly, as a fan, yes, some games are not must wins- even if your personal desire is a NC.

Maybe not a must win, but pretty darn important IMO. Home game versus preseason #9 team - that kind of starts smelling like a must win. This team is shooting to exceed 3 conference wins and exceed a 6 and 6 season, so heck yes I talked myself into - must win.

Simmer down bruh, no one was saying anything about the "desires of fans." These are just opinions. You're over analyzing it. The original question was open ended and weird. Is this a "required" win? If so, for what. . .
I'll keep it simple for you: yes, this is a must win. For what? Because it's awesome. GO CYCLONES!!!!!

As mentioned elsewhere, who said anything about "fan's desires"? You asked a question, I answered it as a process of simple logic. Nothing more than that. I didn't even stick on a jimlad or any kind of funny face.

If we want to go bowling(and we do), it is a must win because it is one of our better chances of winning against a conference foe. We must take advantage of this. If we lose, we have to find a win somewhere else.

Must win to not see a meltdown on CF.

Every game is important, but the only games are must wins are the ones where something is at stake. National Championship? Bowl positioning? Bowl eligibility? There are several ways to frame the question, and it ultimately depends on your goal.

The hope I have for the program (I would say goal, but I have no real direct effect on the outcome) this season is to get four or five conference wins. I hope to win them all, but the Big XII is a tough conference. Since there are eight more conference games after this one, I'm going to say it's not a must-win. And yes, they're all winnable games for their own reasons.

I can see reasons for urgency in this game (expectations of Big 12 finish for each team; where the game is played; confidence of outcome relative to other opponents).

Seems too early to define it as must-win situation.

Should ISU be capable of beating Tech, at home? Is it a reasonable expectation?

Heck yes.

It's the first Big12 game of the year I think we must win it.
Certainly helps to becoming bowl eligible cant afford to let any game we have a chance slip by.

here's a question for you all... IF we beat tech, do we crack the top 25? not that it matters much, but it is interesting to think about. i think the players would enjoy that and may add a little extra motivation

Depends on the rest of the top 25, but we are probably "27th" at worst. 24th at best.

If we want to have a good season I'd say this is pretty close to a "must-win". Because if we have the team we think we have then there is no doubt we will beat Tech. Lose to Tech and suddenly winning 6 games looks mighty tough. I don't know why everybody is going all coachspeak on what was a pretty normal question.

I won't go so far as to call it a must win scenario, but it is a "should win" sort of game. The program is far enough along now where any home game against a middle of the pack conference opponent like TT is one fans should expect a win.

Agreed. In addition, with 5 home and 4 away conference games and needing 3 wins to be bowl elgible, Kansas away and Baylor Texas Tech are the three teams that we are considered equal to or rated above by most of the prognosticators. Figuring we have a shot at one of CPR's annual "upset specials", I would rate the three mentioned as "must wins". It appears that the defense is sound and if Jantz can control his ability to turn the ball over, this could be a year for another step up in Rhoad's tenure.

The fact that ISU is 3-0 right now and not 2-1, it is NOT a must-win top be able to achieve bowl eligibility. However, if you're looking for more then bowl-eligibility like I am, its a must-win.
