It was a good 6 months ago I think and the thread is what got me to download/use MediaMonkey when playing music on my PC or syncing to our current crappy MP3 player.

Anyways, iPod and iPhone feedback - resume...

I was looking at new phones just before Christmas and a couple things about iPhones bothered me...1)network coverage in Iowa 2)speed of the data network 3) harder to replace battery 4)Apple is very proprietary, so you better like it out of the box. third-party apps running in Safari may happen, but going to be a dissapointment i think.

Instead I stayed with Sprint and purchased an HTC Touch. Runs Windows Media 6.0, has storage capability of an iPhone, much better network coverae and data speeds from what I have heard. Tons of 3rd party apps, skins, etc. to purchase, some decent ones are free, or you can develop your own.

That being said, the iPhone is probably simpler, does look great, and easier to operate. A WM device allows for more tweaking, but the possibilities are endless...imo

I've had an iPhone since last August and really love it. The iPod features work great, but I like the phone and internet part of it more. It's nice to just have 1 device to take on road trips or into work with me everyday. I also use media monkey to my music to the iphone. You will still have to use itunes to update the iphone though.

I'm also looking into an Apple TV. I've read some really good reviews about the new 2.0 software release for it. I never wanted to get into the whole Blu-Ray / HD-DVD market because I knew eventually downloadable HD content would be just around the corner and that's basically what you get with the new Apple TV.

I love, love, love my iPod Touch. Just used it on a long plane ride to Georgia, and it was great. I use iTunes without much problem, but I would recommend the iPod line to anyone - I also still have my 40gb Video and the video Nano, and they're both great, too.

I thought about the Apple TV, too (especially with the advent of the rentals). I haven't made the call yet, but have been thinking pretty hard about it.

I wasn't aware that you could use anything other than iTunes on an iPod. Have you looked into things to verify that MediaMonkey would work for these devices?

You can do straight MP3s on an iPod - my entire music collection is completely in MP3 format and my nano handles it like a champion...

Most of you could use cheaper mp3 players and you wouldn't know the difference. You're buying a name.

carry on. :)

I felt the same way...but...I have a cheaper MP3 player and it's crap - so I'm not interested in messing around this time.

Yeah, but sometimes you also get what you pay for. My sis bought a cheap mp3 player. A year later she bought an iPod...

We have Iphones available on our corporate plan, but since they do not work for corporate email, I got a Blackberry Curve instead. I am very happy with that device.

I use my ipod touch to access my Outlook web access, not quite as good but it works.

I owned two crap MP3 players (both which expired in less than a year) before I bought an iPod...that was 4 1/2 years ago. It's still running perfectly. So it is more than a name.

I would recommend an iPod to anyone who wants a solid mp3 player with a huge market for accessories. If you do a lot of driving, go get a Harman/Kardon Drive+Play kit. You'll love it.
