iphones seem cool...but I like a smaller and lighter phone in my pocket than a big brick.

I resist gadgets fairly well...last week, my wife and I were in Best Buy, and she said, 'maybe we should get a new HD tv' since we still have a 6 year old 35 inch tv, no HD.

I looked at them, and just said 'you know what, we really don't need it.'

I might be the only guy in America whose wife suggested they get a tv, and walked out without getting one

j/k Jon..... Kudos to you for holding out on that. If my wife gave me the green flag for that I would just ask how big can I go and then I would be whippin out the credit card.

iTunes Activates is backed up beyond belief so they are having people activate at home. I got that done but with AT&T's servers all backed up, it hasn't registered on their network yet so it's stuck at No Service until it finally goes through.

This time they supposedly had 3-6 million for the launch date but with about 1,000 AT&T locations in the US alone and it launching in over 20 other countries, it stretches pretty thin. Add to that the couple hundred Apple stores that get the bulk of the stock.

What is making the problem worse is that on top of all the people buying new 3G iPhones are the people (like me) who are trying to install the new 2.0 firmware. We're needing to activate also to get past the last bit of the firmware installation.

I am at work right now with a brick'd iphone right now because i was tryin to get it installed this morning before i left and ran out of time.

Jon does make a point about the size of the phones though. I know I always try and get the smallest phone possible. If I started carrying an iPhone or Crackberry I would probably have to get a man-bag.

Honestly, the phone fits right in your pocket. I almost forget its there half the time.

My wife is coming around and is thinking she wants an iphone too. She's seen me play with mine enough that she's finally itching for one. Now we're trying to decide if I hand mine down to her and I get the 3G or she just gets a new one to start. Nice problem to have i must say.

I knew the demand would be crazy for the first week or two, so I'm holding off on buying it until the frenzy dies a bit. I knew it would be crazy with all the activations today, so I downloaded my 2.0 firmware from macrumors (which apple later asked to take the link down) and installed it. I LOVE the new apps. Like someone said before, it's like a whole new phone.

On the Wii front, we were casually looking for one when we walked into Jordan Creek's Best Buy and there they were. We actually had more trouble tracking down Mario Kart. I used an website to tell me when Wii Fits were in stock and I had one within a week.

Have people started camping out for the PS4 or iPhone 4G yet? Probably not, because if they had I'm sure there'd be ample news coverage of it.

Not having enough stock just creates an extended period of time for the company (Apple, Nintendo, ExxonMobile, etc.) to charge a premium price for the commodity. Seems like this is the way most businesses are headed.

Yeah, but I am really strange about things in my pocket. I won't carry a wallet, hate having keys in there and only carry my drivers license and one credit card... and I will NEVER clip a phone to my belt.

True, there are the fanatics, but in the end, it's just a few of those making the headlines. Apple products have always been highly sought after, and the media does all the advertising for Apple for free.

You're kidding, right? The picture quality is amazing. You can see the individual blades of grass that Jake C's passes skip across when he misses his receivers.

I am not saying I don't like, or want HD programming.

I am just saying that as of right now, it's not a priority for me. I don't watch a lot of TV. I prefer to listen to Cubs games, I can't stand sportscenter.

Football and basketball season, I will watch the Hawks and Clones, some Drake, a little NFL (at this point in my life with a young family), and a few reality shows. I just can't justify that expense when there are other things that need attention.

Now, if I fell into a pile of money, I would have a tricked out home theater, no doubt about it.

I just got back from Jordan Creek. I had to exchange my iPhone as there were some problems with it. I was told that I was officially the first person in the US to exchange the iPhone 3G! Of course I got a new one to replace it.

Update on stock...

All AT&T stores in DSM are completely out of iPhone 3Gs. Apple has several hundred remaining and when I left at around 11:00 they still had a line down to the center of the mall. They hoped they wouldn't run out today though as they had an original shipment of well over 1,000 or more phones.
